Saw this in Boortz' column today…

The US granted citizenship to 7,000 Muslims who will be settling in Pennsylvania. The newcomers will be treated to housing, furniture, English-language courses, and life-long welfare allowances paid by American taxpayers.

Two things immedately come to mind:

With a deficit as deep as the Grand Canyon, we're paying for an all-expense paid trip for 7,000 immigrants into Philadelphia? And right now, somewhere in Boston, someone is labelling George Bush a conservative.

Since Americans are loathed the world over for being anti-Muslim, and Bush is supposedly on this racially-motivated "crusade" in the Middle East, I would imagine that this story – about Americans footing the bill for 7,000 Muslim immigrants – will be broadcast on Al Jazeera. I'm sure this will be given some good coverage across the Arabian Peninsula, proving that we're not such Islamophobes after all, right?

How much you wanna bet that if it were even as few as 100 Christians were escaping from political persecution in Sudan, that the Dems would have a field day with this crying their mantra "seperation of chruch and state". What a bunch of BS.

I gotta admit, I don't understand things like this.

There are similarities between this and failed programs of the cold-war. Wouldn't take much to do a little research there.

As usual, you are attacking ghosts.

When I lived in upstate New York, I personally met Ukranians who had obtained refugee status because they were Pentacostal.

According to this Web site, about 1,400 Pentacostals from the former Soviet Union had been resettled in the Utica area by 1996 (click on "history"):

I never heard a peep of complaint about it.

In 1998, Congress reaffirmed that people may seek asylum in the United States because of religious persecution:

The vote was unanimous in the Senate, and it passed on a voice vote in the House.
