FYI: A notable exception (not that I'm disagreeing) is Jerry Stackhouse. He was national player of the year his sophomore year, according to some publications (SI, among others).

I'm guessing he was probably left off because he only played two years.

A couple that I'm wondering about are Tom Hammonds for Tech and Bobby Sura for FSU. I guess Sura didn't make it because FSU wasn't in the ACC his first year (or were they?).

Well, I'll say that I think it hindered him in a way it didn't hinder Smith or Anderson. I don't mean to say that nobody who played two years couldn't make the list -- but obviously the voters think you had to be something extra special in those two years to do it. I think Stack was great, but not good enough to offset that factor in the voters' eyes.

Plus, I don't think the fact that there were already 12 other Tar Heels on the list helped much.

How about showing the #1,#2 and #3 players as they were ranked in this poll and let's also consider that Duke had 6 players that played in the last decade as opposed to Carolina's 1.
The true Carolina benchmark is how many UNC players are in the NBA, Look at how many Duke players are on that list that are currently playing and look at all the 'Heels.

I'll let you take the top five dookies playing in the NBA right now, and give me the top five Heels. We'll see who wins that game....

I'll give the matchup to the Heels... too much Wallace and Stackhouse, and yes they can get up the court... I'd even throw an ageless Jordan in that mix and they would give the Dukies a spankin'
