It's not easy for anyone from the state or local levels to outshine the Republican national leadership when it comes to ridiculous developments, but congratulations Illinois! You're today's winner!

In the ultimate act of cynicism, the state GOP leaders have offered the chance to run against certain winner Barack Obama for U.S. Senate to a non-resident black GOP apologist, Alan Keyes.

Let's see does Hillary come to mind? Non-resident?

By the way, I really like Alan Keyes. If he were to take another attempt at the Presidential Primary, He would probably get my vote.

The law says you can run as long as you are a legal resident by the day of the election.

Also, Alan Keyes is awesome. If he were elected, it would be a wise choice by the citizens of Illinois.

I'm sure Alan Keyes would be an excellent senator. But honestly, try to nominate someone living in the state they wish to represent.

they did have one guy, Ryan. But then his wife revealed that the guy wanted to try a sex club with her. So he had to step down for propositioning his wife for sex.

moral of the story: never get married

If it's good enough for the Democrats it is good enough for the Republicans.

Personally, I would've loved to seen Mike Ditka run against Obama. That would've been a great race.

Actually if you had read Mr. Keyes response to the nomination, he is struggling with the ethics of running in a state he never lived in, unlike Hillary he looked for a state she never lived in because that was her best chance of winning.

Yea, since Hillary had such a tought moral conflict with representing a state she doesn't live in.

Liberals suffer from serious foot in mouth disease.

Ditka vs. Obama would be a fun race to watch.

Socko, where did you go?

Where are your liberal friends?

**Oh, what's that? You spoke without knowing what you're talking about?**

Typical!!!

I doubt we'll see another liberal chime in on this issue.

Oops. Sorry. This just in.

We have another nominee: President Bush. An AP report from earlier today:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush offered up a new entry for his catalog of "Bushisms" on Thursday, declaring that his administration will "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people."

Bush misspoke as he delivered a speech at the signing ceremony for a $417 billion defense spending bill.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we," Bush said.

"They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

No one in Bush's audience of military brass or Pentagon chiefs reacted.

The president was working his way toward a larger point. "We must never stop thinking about how best to defend our country. We must always be forward-thinking," he said.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Bush's misstatement "just shows even the most straightforward and plain-spoken people misspeak."

"But the American people know this president speaks with clarity and conviction, and the terrorists know by his actions he means it," McClellan said.

Way to NOT address the thread and try to divert it elsewhere. I guess a liberal tactic.

BTW, what you guys view as Satan, Fox News, aired this and had it on their website. Would CNN have done it if it was bashing Kerry? I doubt it.

What tactic?

Anyone who thinks they are going to beat Barak Obama is smoking crack.

The question was: What was the dumbest things Republican did or said today. :D

I'd argue for the Bush administration pledge to "never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people."

Sorry. I can't monitor this board 24/7.

I know this will disappoint because it's so much simpler to pigeonhole everyone who doesn't share your narrow-minded views as being of a single mind, but I'm not a Hilary Clinton fan. It was a sham that she, and not an actual New Yorker, won that senate seat.

That doesn't change the fact that the Illinois GOP actions are pathetic. The only folks who will vote for Keyes are blind party idealists and racial extremists. With Illinois considered a safe Kerry state and this embarassing move to import Keyes, it's fair to expect that a large number of GOP voters of conscience will just elect to stay home that day.

I really hope the libs keep after GW for his poor speaking abilities. He will keep laughing, all the way to 4 more years. If you want I can find the one with Kerry and the terrorists quote. They all do it.

Clarity is not the word I would use.

Convicted? No, never convicted. :D
