That prick deserved to get a tongue lashing, so I dished it out.

His "expert" analysis:

What's the best remaining game in the ACC?

A. Florida State at North Carolina State, Nov. 23
B. NC State at Clemson, Oct. 26
C. NC State at Maryland, Nov. 9

Answer: A. Think before firing off e-mails and face this fact: This league just ain't that good this year. Yes, there are some nice puppy dog teams like Wake, Virginia and North Carolina. But Maryland and Georgia Tech have disappointed. To have big games, you have to have ranked teams -- and this league has just two, which meet in Raleigh. The Seminoles will be jacked for the Wolfpack, who became the first ACC team to win in Tallahassee last year and beat FSU in Raleigh in 1998. That makes NC State the only ACC team to twice slay the mighty Seminoles. I can't wait for the game. As for the others, well, the storylines have all the depth of an episode of "Three's Company."

My response:

"Think before firing off e-mails and face this fact: This league just ain't that good this year."

I thought... and concluded you need to face some facts.

Question: Which BCS conference has THE BEST record vs. the rest of the BCS?
Answer: The ACC (8-3)

Wake Forest over Purdue
Georgia Tech over Vanderbilt
NCSU over Texas Tech
Virginia over South Carolina
Florida State over Iowa State
Maryland over West Virginia
North Carolina over Syracuse
North Carolina over Arizona State

Georgia over Clemson
Texas over UNC
Northwestern over Duke

And since I know your objection will be the fact that non-BCS teams have beaten the ACC (NIU, Louisville, Colorado St., Miami OH, Notre Dame, Texas), I'll go ahead and shoot that down while I am at it.

Duke over ECU
Duke over Navy
NCSU over Navy
NCSU over ETSU
NCSU over UMASS
NCSU over New Mexico
GT over UCONN
UVA over Akron
Clemson over Ball St.
Clemson over La. Tech
WF over ECU
UMD over ECU
UMD over Wofford
UMD over Akron

That's a total OOC record of (22-9).

That's best if the nation, if not top 3. Well gosh... how could such a terrible conference muster a record like that??

And if your definition of a best game is ranked opponents, you in no way deserve the title "expert." Rankings are at best a horribly inexact science. Just ask Bowling Green, which is still being shafted by the pollsters.

It would seem that once again another "expert" is playing the stereotype without having a clue to ACC football. It has always been "dethrown FSU, then get respect." They've been dethrowned, are in a good position to be dethrowned again, and the respect is still not there. I guess only teams like Purdue, Iowa State, South Carolina, and Syracuse that get their butt handed to them by ACC "puppy" teams can have that true respect.

Open mouth, insert foot.

Sincerely,
An ACC fan who actually knows what the hell he's talking about
