Is that still on the agenda?

What is the timeframe for this move.

I think it's brilliant. Also MAKO, it will do even more harm to the "economic power" that is the EU.

The redeployment is scheduled to take place over 7 to 10 years I believe. It's already begun around the DMZ in Korea.

I'm not sure pulling troops from the DMZ would be feasible. As far as Europe......fudge'em. Pull'em all.

We're not pulling all of them. Just some. Also we're pulling them off the front lines of the DMZ and S Korea is replacing them with their troops.

How nuts is it that N and S Korea are technically still at war?

It's an interesting maneuver (gamble?)

Could be that someone high up is speculating that US presence is hindering any chance at peace/reunificaiton.

Meanwhile if reunification happens, the Korean economy gets hit w/ a bag of concrete like Germany.

Bingo! Less competition in electronics, displays, and other technologies. And, more chance for US investment so when these guys do get on track, the US can benefit indirectly.

Of course I could just be blowing smoke, but the economic front is where alot of battles are being waged these days.
