Carolina needs Dick Crum back. They have a "great" coach and a "great" team, they need somebody to blame this season on. Scheduling maybe?

Worry about your own football problems, and we'll worry about ours. I think it will probably get better (long-term) for us before it does for you....

C'mon, you guys have a pretty good team personnel-wise. I know you lost your starting quarterback, I'd hate to think you were a one player team and you guys say you have a real good coach. You all sounded like you thought UNC should be a top 20 team at the beginning of the season. But to be taking the beatings Carolina has taken leads me to think that there is more to it than just losing your QB. I've seen just about every Tar Heel game that's been on TV this season and I can't see where the problem is. So what's going on? Is there trouble within the team?

Who said this? I know I didn't. I thought we'd be better than we are (middle of the ACC somewhere), but I think most everyone did.

Yes, we lost our starting QB. We lost our two most experienced and quality DL guys (Eric Davis and Will Chapman). Davis was the only senior up there, and his injury against Miami turned out to be huge. Chapman was already playing injured all season anyway, but his loss has hurt the past two games. We lost one of our best LB's before the season. In addition to that, we are playing mostly freshmen and sophmores along our front seven -- not only starting, but also in the two-deep.

Despite all that, we pushed a lot of teams to the brink -- including Tech, Virginia, State, and Miami. If we win two of those games, we'd be 4-5 right now.

I'm disappointed in the season, but not in the team. Everyone says they've tanked the season -- but the way they've started every game has proven otherwise to me. I do think, however, that they get down on themselves whenever something goes wrong... and then they don't have the confidence to recover. But, that's the sign of a young team.

There will be better days ahead for these guys, especially when we get some more talent in the front seven.

Hey JD, Maryland lost Bruce Perry (ACC player of the year), CJ Feldheim (Duke game), and EJ Henderson ( Notre Dame and at half speed for first half of the season) and they are playing fairly well. I think Doh may have a point, it seems to be in the coaching ranks. UNC has a pretty talented roster, comparibly to the way they are playing. 03-confused

Didn't say that other teams hadn't gone through injuries too. But we are paper thin and terribly young on the lines.

Where is the talent on our defense? Pick somebody on the defensive front seven who is "talented," as you say.

I didn't say the coaching had nothing to do with it. But, to say that "it seems to be in the coaching ranks" is absurd. It is in a lot of places. Start with the inexperience in the defensive front seven, and on the offensive line. Then, the talent at those same positions. Then, injuries at various places in the defensive front seven and our QB halfway through the season. Then, the coaching has been subpar -- true. Fixing the last one of those isn't going to help the rest. Teams are still going to run it right up our gut with the same success.
