Not surprised its UNC. Go to Hell Carolina, go to Hell!

But you have to learn more about the Pope donation to understand the true meaning behind the opposition to the program. Its a left vs right fight, not a pro-west vs. anti-west fight.

There's a lot of hoopla about the so-called "right wing mouthpieces" on AM Talk Radio and Fox News. Yet, little mention is generally made of the hard left that permeates the public school systems from K-12 through the universities. And someone who doesn't like Bill O'Reilly can simply click the remote to another channel. But a conservative faculty member or student at many public colleges have to grin and bear it day in and day out.

I'm the same way. I never had one liberal professor. One was personally democrat, but all the others were quite conservative or uninterested in politics. So much for the last bastion of liberalism.

When I was checking out colleges for undergrad I checked out a class where the professor was talking about the evils of capitalism in a not to objective manner.

Yep, I didn't go there.

I would say a lot depends on your course of study as to how many openly-indoctrinating-libs you run into at colleges/universities. Business/engineering/economics...has to be mostly conservatives. Science...that's a crap shoot. I ran into my fair share of both, but even then it seemed to have a liberal slant in some areas of study. Arts...well, good luck finding any conservatives in that bunch. I had a SPANISH teacher giving me his socialist views...not Spanish history or government...Spanish as a language, for God's sake. I took two philosophy classes...and I never felt so dirty than after I had spent an hour in those classes :D

There are several articles that demonstrate a lack of conservative faculty members, such as <a href='http://studentsforacademicfreedom.org/archive/2003/Penn091203.html' target='_blank'>this one</a>, though admittedly one could charge bias in these articles.

But here's a pretty comprehensive article in Boston Globe (also quoting New York Times, hardly a right-of-center media outlet) concerning faculty's political preferences. And I recall reading something in - I believe - the Journal of Higher Education about how alienated conservative students feel on a typical college campus surrounded by leftish classmates and instructors.

<a href='http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2004/12/02/a_left_wing_monopoly_on_campuses?mode=PF' target='_blank'>http://www.boston.com/news/globe/editorial...ampuses?mode=PF</a>

I'd say a definate no. How can it? Capitalism is controlled by the consumer. Socialism is controlled by the government. There is no possible way for a Capitalist society to become a dictatorship. For that to happen, there must be a shift towards Socialism. Corporations don't create dictatorships, governments do.

Then the power rests in the hands of the consumer, I.e. he wouldn't BE a dictator.

It's possible to have a bustling free-market economy, but with a dictator that restricts freedom of speech and press, engages in human rights abuses, and bans opposing political parties. Chile's Pinochet has often been associated with this.

He didn't start out that way, hence he's not there anymore.
