Au contraire (pun intended). The LA Lafayette Rajin Cajuns. The Cajuns were French Canadians who immigrated down the Mississippi. They were from the Acadians and the name has mutated into 'Cajuns'.

But, thanks for pointing out yet another group that doesn't get upset at being represented by a university mascot.

I thought of the cajuns, but I didn't make the connection to acadian heritage. And Bourgeois (last name) is acadian. I've got to get to Nova Scotia one of these days.
