The Cardinals have elected a new Pope. They have not announced who it is. Imagine what this man is now feeling.

That was weak.....real weak. Have you declared yourself the thought police?
In case you were unaware, there is quite a precedent regarding priest molestations in the Catholic church, including Cardinals. The Catholic church has paid millions of dollars in settlements and judgements. Just because you didn't like the statement, doesn't mean you need to remove it. Pretending it didn't happen doesn't make it true.

Yes, in this instance I decide. And I would think any other admin/mod would have deleted what you posted too. As I said, there is a time and a place to discuss this sort of behavior. A thread about election of a new Pope, one of the most powerful men in the world, is not the place.

How is it any different than making fun of George W. Bush, who by all accounts, as the President of the United States, is the most powerful man in the world? There is no difference.
I would also argue that the pope does not have that much power. He is essentially the CEO of the biggest, richest corporation on earth. He has the power of suggestion and the power to mold a sect of religion, but so does the Dahli Llama. Let's not forget that he is only a man.
As you like to say to swoosh, "Maybe you need to get some..."

Sorry, I thought it might make more sense if it was tied to a real occurrence. I didn't mean to drag you into this.

Rickheel is an Admin and puts money into NCAAbbs.com all the time. If it wasn't for guys like him, this place wouldn't be around. Therefore, he has all the right in the world to edit or delete your post, especially when it is in poor taste like that was on a thread about a new pope being elected.

Right, the leader of a religion practiced by 1 of every 5 persons on earth has no power. If you would like to discuss the problem of priests do it elswhere. You have that right. It wont stay on this thread.

Two things...
1. It was a joke. This is a "Sports Bar". Information gets disseminated in a sports bar, jokes are told there. Some are even "gasp" political or religious.
2. Although you may argue that 20% of the world is Catholic, I would argue that is in name only. Of the Catholics I know, about a 1/3 are non-practicing and I would say another 1/3 to 1/2 don't follow all the tenets of Catholicism. You yourself were promoting pre-marital sex to swoosh. How does that match up with the church tenets? Not very well. You can't take the high road on some items and the low road on others. Just to make sure I understand, it is ok to encourage someone to break the tenets of Catholicism, but it is not ok to make fun of the leader of Catholicism?
When you add these above numbers up it equates to about 4% of the world population or (214,000,000 +/- of the 6 Billion). This is what I call "real Catholics", not people who call themselve Catholics or Christians, but don't actually practice. This matches up pretty well with my earlier statement of comparing the pope to the president (without the power i.e. no nukes) or a CEO of a large corporation (in this case it would be about 370 times the size of the average fortune 100 company)
