Brother, sister arrested on incest charge at Trafford trailer
4/20/2005, 4:57 p.m. ET
The Associated Press

TRAFFORD, Ala. (AP) — A brother and sister were arrested on felony incest charges after the man's wife called sheriff's deputies, who allegedly caught the siblings having sex.

Ronald Stewart Howze, 44, of Trafford, and Lori Ann Rotton, 41, of Smyrna, Ga., were arrested around midnight on April 7, said Jefferson County sheriff's spokesman Randy Christian. They remain jailed Wednesday with bond set at $50,000 each.

If convicted, Howze and Rotton could each be sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Authorities said Howze's wife believed her husband and his sister were having sex so she called deputies. The wife let the officer into their trailer home, and the deputy saw the siblings having sex in a bedroom, Christian said.

The officer had to twice tell the couple to stop, and the officer's report quoted the man as saying "I guess I'm going to jail" after they finally complied, according to Christian.

Both brother and sister had been drinking, and Rotton was initially taken to a hospital because she appeared so intoxicated, Christian said.

The man told the officer he wanted to "go out crazy" after being diagnosed with cancer, The Birmingham News reported Wednesday.

Tommy McFarland, an attorney representing Howze, said his client told him he could not remember what happened. Howze said he suffers from seizures and asked to see a psychiatrist, according to McFarland.

Rotton is set to make her first court appearance Thursday.

Did they really need to say it was a trailer home after saying it occurred in Alabama? I mean, is there any other kind of home besides trailers down there?

Fair point... but the gay people cannot reproduce, where these 2 people can reproduce and create one f'ed up kid.

True, but there are a lot of f'd up kids who come from a "regular" set of parents. :chair: I guess my whole point in asking is where do we establish the line?

Birth defects are what I was referring to... they are much more common when two people of close relation reproduce, such as brother and sister.

Not joking at all. Where do you draw the line? Some people dont feel it is right to allow gay folks to get married. Some folks dont think it is right to allow pre marital sex. There are a lot of different viewpoints and who is to say who is right and who has the final say?

As mlbUC eluded to...congenital anomolies (physical and cognitive) are greatly increased with those kinds of situations. This is a preventable way of stopping abnormalities from occuring.

Those "regular" parents could have had recessive genes that result in "f'd up kids" & there are countless of toxins that we are exposed to daily that can result in "f'd up kids".

Seems pretty common sense to say "Don't bang your siblings!"

OK, maybe I need to draw it in red crayon. It is not about bubba screwing roxanne, it is about drawing a line. Who is going to decide what is normal? Why can someone say something is not normal (as I said before, bubba doing his sister is NOT). These days, with all the touchy feely we want to make sure not to hurt anyones feelings bs, most anything seems to go. I think we were a heck of a lot better off back in the days of defined morality. I can remember when a murderer went to jail for a hell of a long time. Heck, kill a dog these days and you might do more time than killing its owner!

Today, I guess being "normal" is just relative. How do you define what is normal vs. moral vs. legal? Interesting question, but impossible to answer.

Thanks for using the red crayon....its so pretty :D

Lets put 'normal' aside, genetically and physiologically speaking, the chances of a birth defect increase exponentially when both partners come from the same gene pool.

the "where do you draw the line" is a moral question. and morality comes from faith. my faith is Christian so I say God thru the Bible has the final say, for me personaly. and my personal morality says homesexuality, incest, forincation is wrong. if you think differently-have fun!

SD- I agree. I think we all agree on the point that bubba should not be nailing his sister. That is a given. My point is bubba may feel that a man having sexual relations with another man is just as wrong. What if bubbas had been snipped and his sister had no way of getting pregnant? I just feel that the bs pc folks have taken things way to far. Society as a whole is a cess pool.
