We all hear the negative press about Gitmo every day, either from the press or from members of Congress.

A Rasmussen Reports telephone survey conducted this week asked the following question:

Quote:Most of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay are members of al Qaeda, the Taliban and other terrorist groups. Generally speaking, is the United States treating these prisoners unfairly, treating them better than they deserve, or treating them about right?

Results:
36% - Prisoners treated better than they deserve
34% - Prisoners treated about right
20% - Prisoners treated unfairly
10% - Don't know

The telephone poll of 1,000 Americans, conducted Monday and Tuesday, June 20-21, also found that only 14 percent agree with Sen. Richard J. Durbin, Illinois Democrat, who charged that prisoner treatment at Guantanamo is similar to the tactics used by the Nazi or Soviet regimes.

The prisoners gain an average of 8 Lbs during their stay at Guantanamo Bay. Just like the Jews did at Auschwitz. They also get free Qu'ran's, like the Torahs that were given to the Jews at Dachau. :rolleyes:

I am picking up your sarcasm. Durbin should have thrown in that the Jews got a "tan" at Auschwitz.

I think there is also a big difference in the detainees. Even if the situation at Gitmo was identical to Auschwitz, which it isn't, the people being held there are parties responsible for terrorist acts, criminals. The Jews incarcerated at Auschwitz were innocent civilians, guilty only of their heritage and their belief system.

that's what i thought from the beginning. these detainees deserve to be tortured. the jews didn't.

As long as the people down in Gitmo aren't US citizens, I don't care what they do to them down there. They do not have the same rights that you and I have as citizens.
