When he finally killed sombody he resigned, but he was relelected before that. I don't remembe the guys name, it was a couple of years ago.
I think he was from Montana.
I also think if an response starts with "What about..." , it is probably a weak response.
So are you saying it wasn't true?
The second weakest response is one that starts with "So you are saying...?"
Read it again. I didn't say that. You are trying to attribute a statement to me I didn't make.
The only assertion of fact i made was that I thought he was from Montana.
I see this a lot, most recently from Alan Colmes and Phil Donahue.
Examples:
O'Reilly: I think it would be a mistake to withdraw from Iraq now.
Donahue" So you are saying you want more Americans to die?"
Not what he said, Phil
Caller on Alan Colmes' talk show: I think that Aruba messed up the Nathalie Holloway investigation, but we have to remember, their laws and proceedures are different from ours. We can't expect them to run it according to American laws.
Colmes: So what you are saying is that you are OK with young girls being murdered?
Not what he said, Alan.
I listen to a lot of talk shows from both sides of the political spectrum and whenever I hear resonses like that, I know the responder has run out of ammo.
(Both the above are generalized examples from memory, not direct quotes. However, they demonstate the the weakness of the "So you are saying... reponse")
Now the "What about..." response:
Citizen A: George W. Bush has a DUI
Citizen B: What about Teddy Kennedy?
Citizen D: Tom Delay has been indicted. he's a crook
Citizen E: What about Clinton?
Citizen D: What about Nixon?
Both of these responses are about as weak as Are too/Are not.
