Metaphysics does not belong to the same Academic realm as Physics.
Unless you accept the assertion that God is a natural phenomenon, then "Intelligent Design" is a Metaphysical theory. If things like "Intelligent Design" are to be taught, then do so in the Academic realms that deal with Metaphysics, like the Philosophy or Religion departments. That is what they are for.
