This is from an email list from John Mauldin, who is a Rice grad, (Hedge Fund) Investment Advisor, and author. He sends out weekly emails that are very insightful about social, demographic, and geo-political trends that look forward toward global trends over the next several decades. As such, he leads off this story by noting that investments in the US are going counter to what should be expected given economic trends, and offers essays from two other authors by way of explanation.
