RE: All-Time Favorite Memphis Bands
I really enjoyed the Pawtuckets. Their bass player's (Mark Stuart) new solo album has received rave reviews. I've seen it at or near the top of all of the 2013 top 10 lists. I believe the Flyer had it ranked #1.

Ironically, the Pawtuckets had two lead singers, but Mark wasn't one of them.

If I had huge chunks of spare change there are some iconic guitars that I would like to have. One is available for $75K, down from $150K several years ago.

And that one would be ? You can't stop there. What guitar or owned by who?

I was outside Pyramid Guitars on Madison when I saw a skinny long bearded fellow making his way to the shop and I told my friend it was Billy Gibbons- He didn't believe me, so I shouted out and sure enough he turned around a started walking toward us-

We started talking and he said he picking up a guitar that he had commissioned Pyramid to make for him and it was made out of wood from the house Muddy Waters grew up in-

Wish I had stuck around to see the guitar but we were headed to Horseshoe to get in an afternoon ski.

What an incredible idea. Wonder what kind of wood it was. Wouldn't make as much difference on an electric guitar as it would an acoustic. But what a piece of history that you could own and play.

RE: All-Time Favorite Memphis Bands
I know you guys are re-living glory days but there are still a lot of great local bands around playing. One of favorite local bands right now is Tiger High (yep, that's their name). As usual, they are getting more reviews outside of the city than inside. Little Steven (from eStreet band and the sopranos fame) has been playing them on his Sirius/XM show.

The drummer of Tiger High was supposed to hook up with Arthur Lee for a Love reboot before Arthur passed.

Edit: Dude, really. T.I.G.E.R H.I.G.H is a bad word here?

Billy Gibbons lived in Memphis for a bit. He rented what was known as the Tigrett penthouse in the 99 Tower Apts downtown. I lived in 99 Tower Apts at the time and met him on several occasions riding up the elevator in the wee hours of the morning.

He did indeed live here for a few years. Moved from the 99 bldg to the apts on Mendenhall right across from the old D&D at Winchester. Then he lived on Mt Moriah across from the Putt Putt. He had a gal pal Christine that worked at the Peabody and was a part time actress.
