kid arrested for writing
although the content of his paper that he wrote for creative writing was more than neccessary, I don't think he should be punished like so for his paper. I know as kids we challenged many instructions to the fullest, such as being a smart ass. And thats what I feel this kid is guilty of.

CARY, Illinois (AP) -- A high school senior was arrested after writing that "it would be funny" to dream about opening fire in a building and having sex with the dead victims, authorities said.

Another passage in the essay advised his teacher at Cary-Grove High School: "don't be surprised on inspiring the first CG shooting," according to a criminal complaint filed this week.

Allen Lee, 18, faces two disorderly conduct charges over the creative-writing assignment, which he was given on Monday in English class at the northern Illinois school.

Students were told to "write whatever comes to your mind. Do not judge or censor what you are writing," according to a copy of the assignment.

According to the complaint, Lee's essay reads in part, "Blood, sex and booze. Drugs, drugs, drugs are fun. Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab, s...t...a...b...puke. So I had this dream last night where I went into a building, pulled out two P90s and started shooting everyone, then had sex with the dead bodies. Well, not really, but it would be funny if I did."

Officials described the essay as disturbing and inappropriate.

Lee said he was just following the directions.

"In creative writing, you're told to exaggerate," Lee said. "It was supposed to be just junk. ... There definitely is violent content, but they're taking it out of context and making it something it isn't."

Lee was moved to an off-campus learning program, and the district was evaluating a punishment, schools spokesman Jeff Puma said.

"It wasn't just violent or foul language," Puma said. "It went beyond that."

The teenager's father, Albert Lee, has defended his son as a straight-A student who was just following instructions and contends the school overreacted. But he has also said he understands that the situation arose in the week after a Virginia Tech student gunned down 32 people before committing suicide.

Defense attorney Dane Loizzo said Allen Lee has never been disciplined in school and signed Marine enlistment papers last week.

A conviction could bring up to 30 days in jail and a maximum $1,500 fine.

That essay seems to be "out there" to me. What is it with todays youth and this culture of death?

I really don't care if the kid is a straight A student or not. What he wrote was messed up. There are just some lines that straight-up should not be crossed. The fact that his dad defends what him doesn't improve my overall opinion of parents these days either.

Best of luck to him in the Corp. though.

His father defends him?

If I had written something like that my dad would've whipped my tail good, and deservedly so.

Hey, look around you ... culture is inherited. You can't blame today's youth without blaming the folks who raised them. Or rather forgot to raise them.

Never, never, never turn off your brain filter. Even if the teacher tells you to. Lesson learned.

There were no threats to anyone. So how could they arrest him for that?

Did you even read the article? Really, did you read it?

What he wrote was beyond disturbing. In the world we live in schools have to treat situations like this with extreme caution. After the school shootings in the late 90's and recent events those at VT how could te school not react ?

I read it I just didn't see anything specific or any names mentioned.

If I write about a character going crazy and going into a convience store should I be charged with wanting to kill convience store clerks?

I completely understand where the school is coming from. I just don't think they should ruin some poor kid's record because of an essay.

It's the world we live in, man. He didn't invent a character( eben though I still find that rather disturbing) but wrote as if he were doing it. The young man really should have known better than to write stuff like that. Even if he never intended to do such a the idea that he thought it would be "funny" is kinna sick.

On a side note....I'd NEVER tell a student to "not judge or censor what you're writing". If there is any fault with the school, that's it right there.
