Joe Kines, FSU's linebacker coach for the past 3 years, was hired as the Crimson Tide's new defensive coordinator and linebacker coach. Mike Price, the new head coach at Alabama, announced this on Saturday. Kines is a graduate of Jacksonville State (1967) in Alabama. Kines coached at Clemson in 1977-78 Kines moved on to Florida in 1979. He was the Gators' defensive coordinator from 1981-84 and was elevated to assistant head coach in 1984. In 1985-86, Kines was the defensive coordinator and inside linebacker coach at Alabama before leaving with Tide head coach Ray Perkins to the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kines was the Buc's linebacker coach from 1987-90.
Kines returned to college coaching in 1991 as the defensive coordinator at Arkansas and was promoted to head coach of the Razorbacks in 1992. He was Arkansas' assistant head coach and defensive coordinator from 1993-94 before moving on to Georgia. He was the Bulldogs' defensive coordinator from 1995-98 and as assistant head coach in 1999. He coached the defensive ends while at Georgia.

Sure hope this doesn't hurt our recruiting. Dana Graydon an outside linebacker from Albany Ga, has said he is now leaning toward UGA. He also said that his choice was FSU until learning of Coach Kines departure. Hope this doesn't establish a trend for the rest of our recruits. I believe that we stand a real good chance of having one of the top 5 recruiting classes if things hold true for us.
