I didn't see this posted anywhere, but congratulations to the Owls. Football, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, academics...they never cease to amaze me.

Sorry if ntr, but I thought it as least as worthy as 3 fish winning in wrestling. ;-)

Very well rounded school.

What's even better is both schools in the finals were from Memphis. That's right, no Brentwood, no Baylor, no MBA in the finals. Congrats to both MUS and St. Georges for a great showing in the tournament! Way to represent Memphis and West Tennessee!!

Who cares when a small private school beats another small private school. Play in a real division and someone might care.

As someone who went to a small/mid size private high school, I have to say I agree. Competing against the small number of schools instead of hundreds of public schools make a big difference. But I know these private schools would if they could, like we did in the day.

My last year of high school a small private school who dominated their division was moved up into our public school division--they are now the perennial doormat.

And their cheerleaders aren't allowed to travel to half the games in the region because it's "dangerous"

lmfao lmfao lmfao

you may not always graduate public school with the best academics,

but you will earn yourself a degree in dem skreet smarts!

They would, but not if they had to give up their opportunities to hand out scholarships to assist lower-income and disadvantaged students, which is why the split occurred in the first place. The private schools wanted to maintain their athletic scholarships, just like they provide academic scholarships and financial aid. The public schools saw schollies as unfair trade practice (they can't match that legally). Neither were willing to cave, understandably.

It's a shame that the divisions are seperated and it's a shame that he couldn't be there, but it's good to see Jerry Peters win a championship.

Public schools got tired of seeing the private schools win so many state championships, hence the split because of "athletic scholarships".
