best work at highest prices (don't have to worry about any problems after the fact): A.L. Edwards

worst work at average price: City Roofing

I used Chris Barwick Roofing that they did a good job.

A word of warning: be very wary of anyone with a substantially low bid. 65%+ of roofing costs go to insurance costs of the roofer, primarily workers' comp premiums.

If a company is low balling, there is a good chance that they either don't have work comp coverage (legal if they don't have a certain number of employees) or their coverage is inadequate. If something happens on your property and the roofer is undercovered or uncovered, you will likely be looking at a suit against you.

Powell Bros is a very good roofing co. Honest and reliable. Also Tiger fans. I heartily recommend them.

I have heard horror stories about their work. They are early in the phone book and the owner drives around a flashy hummer but that's it. The work is shoddy.

They replaced our new roof (including multiple tear-offs) for a reasonable price. The foreman was always easy to get in touch with and very helpful. I highly recommend them.

One word to the wise on roofing, regardless of who it is: ask them to keep you informed on how much decking, if any, will need to be replaced. That's a cost that can surprise you sometimes.
