No one is really giving us a shot tomorrow. Heck, I'm not even giving us much of a shot. I'd love for the guys to surprise and to give us what would end up being the biggest win of the season to date. We'll see....
GO HEELS!

I would say kansas was a bigger win, personally :)
Anything is possible in the ACC now.

Kansas was a huge win, no doubt.
But, beating Maryland would stem the tide in the ACC for us. It would give us the biggest ACC win we've had in two years, and would put us squarely back in the hunt for an NCAA bid. It would be a ACC road win at one of the toughest venues in the league. It would get a lot of monkeys off Doherty's back about his teams' ACC play. It would be huge.

On paper this will be our toughest game of the year. But for some reason, the physcie (sp?) and current attitude of these players and this coaching staff makes me believe we could surprise the Terps in College Park. Go Heels!

I have been in Doh's corner and defended him all the way. But, after today, I am not so sure. End of the first half he should have use a time out to get Scott in the game. For that matter, what the hell was he doing on the bench????? He was the only one making anything. Was D resting him??? :bang: He could have stemed the run too. As usual, he sat on his ****ing hands and did nothing. As far as I am concerned, Jackies supposed defensive efforts do not, in any way, make up for his moronic efforts on O. How many t/o's did he have today?? Is he going for the all time record?? The guy has no clue on offense. During the second half the starters, other than Ray, were mailing it in. The one positive was when Doh yanked them out. And I will tell ya, if that is the best Rashad can do, then the hell with him. His attitude has an effect on the rest of the team If he does not give a ******, **** him. Let him transfer. I am tired of seeing these guys not care. The hell with them.

I am as pissed as you Rick. This is totally unacceptable.
I don't care where the blame goes, but we have to stop being so passive. Something needs to be done. Enough of these IFs, this program is not going in the right direction. I don't care whether Sean May is hurt or not. I am tired of people using that as an excuse. The fundamentals, basics, and attitude of this team are uncalled for and ridiculous.

I don't think that loss was on Doh. He prepared the team well and we came out strong both halves.
The problems came when our guys "mailed it in" (as Rick said). Doherty probably could have stemmed the run a bit too, but sometimes it's better to let a team play its way out of a mess instead of bailing them out all the time. They have to learn to play hard all the time, and if it takes a loss like yesterday to teach them that, then so be it.
I won't be happy about it, though....

I have been a notorious Doh basher all over the net it seems like for years. And more and more people are coming to my way of thinking. But you know something? I REALLY believe that if we had kept our UNC assistants and hired Doherty for head coach, we would be winning big time now. And last year while not up to UNC standards, would have been respectable, not 8-20. We particularly miss Phil Ford. His presence would have been invaluable in keeping the animosity between players and coaches down and keeping everyone on the same page. Doh has a lot of fire and energy that Coach Guthridge didn't have, and that fire along with some coaches who had been through the wars at UNC could have been a bigtime winning combination. Thoughts?

I think there is some truth to that. Phil Ford needs to find his way onto Doherty's staff ASAP... it just might save Doh's job.
