Wow...what's happening here Nate? How on earth are we agreeing on things recently? Steve will not be an all-star but some team will be lucky to have him on their team. Where do you think Dahntay will place in the draft?
Nothing's different... I actually like most Maryland players a lot. I would have killed to have Juan Dixon, Blake, Lonny or others on Duke... and Gary is likable when he's not all caught up in his competitiveness... it's just some shiite fans like Damascus who tarnish Maryland's reputation nationwide. The sad thing is... they are happy, and don't care what others think...
I think Dahntay will go late first round... the reason I think he'll go before Blake is because his upside is tremendous... He's very quick and is a great leaper... not too mention a great defender. Really all he needs is a better shot and some handles... and he'll be a very good NBA player.
IMO, Dahntay will be good based on his size, athleticism and defense. Blake will be good because he's crafty, can pass, and doesn't make many mistakes.

then why didn't he play high school basketball his senior year? he may not have been found "guilty", but saying he did nothing is just childish...

I think that Gary would be a bad coach if he wasn't so competetive. His lifespan may be short though. Sometimes I really believe he is going to explode.
Don't beleive for a minute that I wouldn't have wanted a Dunleavy or Battier on my team as well. I guess what it all boils down to is MD and Duke have some great players and if they aren't on your respective team, it's easier for some people to hate them than acknowledge their abilities.
I too agree Dahntay will go late in the first round. The only worries I have about him is that he is (and I know this sounds ridiculous) a little small for his college position. In the pros he would be compared to a Rip Hamilton type player without the acuracy (and with the leaping and defense). His defense is outstanding and will work well in the NBA but until he gets that 2 guard shot, he will struggle finding his place in the offense. Athleticism is a great quality to have but it only takes you so far. Chris Wilcox is 6'10 and has a 40 inch vertical and he is struggling. I know the comparison is flawed and Dahntay is a better offensive player, but you get my point. Jones could surprise me a take a leadership role on some team and be very successful. He has to kill the Duke jinks in the NBA to do that though.
As for Blake, you are right on. He is not a highlight reel. He will be consistant and intense. Simply stated...he will get the job done whether that requires him to shoot from long range or make the unselfish pass.
ps. I can't wait to see how Blake's mind-numbing passes are handled by professionals. So many times in college he would make unbelievable passes that college players just couldn't handle.

Hey Nate...have you seen the Mock draft by NBA Draft.net? They have Dahntay Jones coming to the wizards. How interesting would that be? Jaun, Leatner, Jones and Dwayne Wade as their first pick. Not too bad.

Talk about an All-ACC team... Stackhouse... Laettner... Jones... Dixon... Haywood... Jordan running things from the office...
I'm tellin you man... the Wiz have a bright future... if they can get Kwame to become 2/3 the player everyone wants to be... and get a very good PG... they will be set!
But... I really see Dahntay going somewhere like San Antonio... who likes to utilize wing forwards like Bruce Bowen, Steve Smith etc....

He was kicked off his team (probably) because it was a precautionary measure... his coach did the safe thing... suspended all of them...

I don't see any reason why an all ACC team couldn't be good for a pro basketball team. Especially considering all the players that represent the ACC on the Wizards have NCAA titles or at least respectable appearances in the tourney. Man, I would love to see it happen.
I do agree that Dahntay might be picked up by a more run and gun type of team and I would personally rather have a Mike Sweetney play with the Wiz but I would have no problem with Dahntay's speed and "D".
As for Kwame....I'm afraid that he will turn into a great NBA player right after the Wizards trade him (Ben Wallace anyone).

There are exceptions to every rule, obviously... just because Stockton was an all star... that doesn't mean that every skinny, pasty white boy who can pass is the next Stockton.
This is a completely different era of basketball... PGs need to have a NBA jumper in order to be an all star nowadays.
Steve Blake has the drive and potential to be a very successful PG in the NBA. I'm not dumb enough to comare him to Stockton yet. As for the jumper comment...all I have to say is Steve lead the ACC in 3-point FG % this year. He obviously has refined a very good outside shot. Whether that pans out in the NBA in yet to be seen. We all know he can drive and distribute as well as any point guard in the draft and those ridiculous passes can't be mached.
I'll take my chances by saying that this pasty white boy will be very good. All-star....I won't go that far unless he teams up with a new era Malone (even then that would be year's from now).

Nice to see that you guys kept the umd/duke argument going, in my absence.
Let's look at the top 9, now that Roy boy is here. And I agree, the bottom 7 will be close...
1) Duke -No early entries, Jones is gone, but Deng is a perfect replacement (he's been compared to grant hill, be afraid)
2) UNC - Brings back a solid core of competitors, and Roy's coaching will be a pain in Coach K's side
3)Wake - Howard is gone, but Skip brings back a core of dangerous ballers, plus Chris Paul
4)NCState- Depends on whether powell stays or not, but even if he goes, it's a difficult team to beat
5)MD- Difficult call. Losing all the starters is difficult, but no one thought that they would do well this year.
6)Tech- I only say this, assuming that bosh leaves. But if he stays, you've got your ACC POY right here
7)FSU- Hamilton has already started changing things, bringing in another mcdonald's all american
8)UVA- The loss of travis watson is a big one. Todd billet is a munchkin machine tho.
9)Clemson -Still in the basement (sorry, NCTM)
[QUOTE]If Roy and Brown don't come
1) Duke
2) State
3) Tech
4) UVA
5) Wake
6) Maryland
7) UNC
8) FSU
9) Clemson
