I hope everyone has a great Wednesday!

I have a .jpeg file of a Raleigh Map from 1962...due to it's size I have
decided to link to the map <a href='http://www.nctrafficman.net/raleigh62.jpg' target='_blank'>HERE</a>...feel free to take a look...a few things to notice about Raleigh in 62 from this map are:

--How limited the city limits are! Most of what is now the Beltline
wouldn't even have been in the city limits, if it existed back then.
Crabtree Valley Mall wouldn't even have been in the city limits! I
see that the city was bordered mostly by creeks.

--The Beltline had just began construction. I-40 didn't yet extend
to the Raleigh area, and the top loop of the Beltline (US-1) was
all under construction.

--When did it switch from "Hillsboro" to "Hillsborough"?

--Western Blvd. used to be US-64, and US-64 continued straight
through town.

--Of course, there was no "Capital Blvd". It was "Downtown" and
"North", but I remember this was the case as recently as 15 years ago.

--The Wake Forest Rd and Falls Of The Neuse Rd intersection makes
more sense. It looks like if you continue straight, you stay on Wake
Forest Rd, as opposed to now, where you end up on Falls Of The Neuse.
I wish I had pictures of the intersection from then.

--Near Dorothea Dix Hospital, I see an "Ulmstead" Drive. I'm assuming this
is a typo, and this should be "Umstead".

--Though it's hard to see on this map, if you look at where Blue Ridge Road
cuts to the right (where today Duraleigh Road would continue straight),
you see that it continues straight as Prison Farm Road.
