I'm interested to see if anything happens over the weekend (while I'm in VA). I used to be adamently anti-expansion, but now I want it to happen to keep everyone in the league happy. But, I don't want us to give in to crappy divisions.
Should be interesting....

Although the expansion would strengthen the conf, I think it would be bad for college sports and turn them into a free agent type of thing, just like in the pros when teams relocate, so too will many College teams do so. I am also a traditionalist when it comes to rivalries, conf matchups and history of college sports , this hinders all those things as well.

It's funny, after all the talking it looks like Miami and VT. (When did we stop calling them VPI?) 11 teams is an odd (no pun intended) number since you still need 12 for the football "Championship Game".
I would have preferred Miami alone, but the political pressure to add VT was pretty severe, from what I read.
Now, there will be a lot of talk about a 12th member sometime in the next few years. I vote South Carolina. The geography and past history just makes sense.
I feel sorry for Syracuse and BC - their football programs are going to take recruiting hits if Miami leaves. Oh well, better them than us.

hoops13 Wrote:My vote: no expansion....but if it has to happen, not more than 10 teams.
My opinion on this topic hasn't changed. I'd like to see Miami and only Miami. That seems to be the best solution for the current situation.
While an NCAA rule says that a conference must have 12 teams to have a championship football game, I believe the ACC could lobby to change the rule so that a 10 team conference could have a championship football game. With a 10 team league, the basketball (what I care about the most :D) wouldn't be screwed up. Overall, a 10 team league with Miami would keep the mystique of the conference, but it would spice things up a bit. Meanwhile, we could add 2 teams later on down the road.
Let's hope it is just Miami.

There is more to life than just basketball North Carolina. :D Miami has accepted the ACC's offer and you know that VTech will follow too even with their stupid lawsuit... Have more money for each school with bring improvements to things a fan can appreciate like better stadiums for teams like UNC. I heard y'all's stadium leaves a lot to be desired.

You heard wrong. Up until very recently, we were leading the conference (with FSU) in football facilities. Other teams in the conference are catching up, though....

A thousand pardons. I should have looked at your stadium pictures and not relied on what my sister told me a couple of years ago when she visited your school. :bang:

Most sports publications do list Kenan Stadium as one of the top facilities in the ACC. Unless your sister is on one of those panels, I would tend to go with more "expert" opinions.
Now as far as ability to easily park and tailgate near the stadium, yes, UNC does lag behind most other ACC schools in that department, but even UNC fans will acknowledge that point.

Yeah, parking and tailgating are a hassle -- but that will never change. That's the downside of a true on-campus stadium.
If you know the inside tricks, though, parking and tailgating are a snap.

I believe the experts talk about the "scenic beauty"
of Kenan...especially when the leaves are turning.
Rather than "stadium pleasures"
'Course...If you haven't sat at the top of Section
D at Clemson...then you are in for quite a treat.
Why would you build something so high...and have
only one ramp...70 from the top...
Good Christ...I almost moved there...so I wouldn't have
to make the climb down. 'Course it was easier
leaving...All the Clemson fans had left in the third
quarter.
