Quote: Among five conferences appearing on ESPN, ACC football games drew the lowest TV ratings in the nation (the SEC was No. 1, followed by the Big East). For ESPN2 games, the ACC again was last, trailing the SEC, the Big Ten, Big East and Conference-USA.

<a href='http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/0503/12acc.html' target='_blank'>http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/0...0503/12acc.html</a> (Last paragraph)

Dead last! IMHO, we must expand now or we will continue to spiral downward and may eventually be totally phased out of the big picture of college football. To have worse TV ratings than C-USA is very distubring.

Unfortunately, the "FSU and 8 dwarfs" perception is hard to shake; it's going to take a while for people to realize that there are some potential national powers growing in the ACC. We should have four teams ranked in the preseason top 25 though, and State vs. Ohio State on Sept. 13th should draw national interest.

I also think that next year will see a lot of parity in ACC football, much like basketball this year.

I believe the basketball ratings were #1. The football was low because the teams have yet to prove dominance in the NCAA. The ACC football teams are gaining more ground faster than any other conference. Time will mend the tv ratings as long as the ACC stays on the path they have for the last three year's. Say no to expansion. They make plenty of $ from basketball.

Exactly right.Instead of bringing in teams who are better in football to get national respect why not get better with what you have allready? What a concept.

Keep living in your dream world folks. Maybe one day you will wake up and realize that the ACC is not the best conference in basketball anymore.

What happened to Clemson's program? In years past I used to fear them and looked forward to the FSU-Clemson game. Now they almost lost to Duke (blew a damn 14 point lead in the 4th!)! What's going on down in SC?

Give me a break! How about looking at the last 50 years instead of basing your opinion on the last few.

I just live in the present. I don't bask in past glory.

And get shafted on multimillion dollar tv contracts and loss national attention and national spotlight and money.

Sure, let's send the ACC straight into the portojohn.

I don't argue that few truly understand the ACC's current prowess as a football conference. However, that very misconception could be a punch in the gut of this conference. Life isn't fair. Instead of rolling over and dieing, the league is doing something about it.

Duke - If it isn't a dynasty right now... it's damn close.
UNC - 2 "down" years... relative to past success... new coach and will have bright future
NCSU - Consistent top 40 team... 2 straight years in the NCAA
GT - Hewitt at the helm... Bosh and other blue chippers giving GT lots of attention
Maryland - just won a national championship and will stay as a national power for a few years, at least
Wake - Just won the ACC regular season... new coach and great recruits
UVA - crumbling, IMO

Clemson and FSU - :ninja:

If Duke is or is close to being a dynasty then the Dean Smith era was as well.Agree?

You can't say that the entire Dean Smith era was a dynasty... UCLA's 10-11 titles was a dynasty during the time that Dean coached. There were times when Dean's program @ UNC came close to being a dynasty, that is very possible. I wasn't alive then, so I can't really judge very well.

I do consider Duke from 1990-1994 as a dynasty, however. Duke from 98-02 is pretty close.

The University of South Carolina is going on. Clemson getting the best of U.S.C. in recruiting is a thing of the past. Go Cocks :D
