Quote:Wake Forest - Clemson Baseball Game Suspended Due to Rain
Deacons lead Tigers 2-1 in top of the fourth

May 15, 2003

Thursday's baseball game between Wake Forest and Clemson has been suspended due to rain. The game will continue tomorrow where it left off, in accordance with Atlantic Coast Conference policy, with Clemson batting in the top of the fourth inning.

The Deacons hold a 2-1 lead. When the game went into a rain delay at 3:25 eastern time, Kyle Sleeth was pitching for Wake Forest with a 2-0 count to Clemson's Jeff Hourigan, the leadoff hitter in the inning.

The game was delayed for more than an hour with heavy rain, lightning and thunder in the Winston-Salem area.

Jason Berken started for the Tigers.

Jamie D'Antona led off the second inning with a solo home run, his 21st of the year to lead the ACC. Clemson tied it in the third with an RBI single by Kyle Frank. The Deacons recaptured the lead on an RBI groundout by Ryan Johnson.

The Deacons and Tigers will resume their series beginning at noon on Friday afternoon. In between games, there will be an on-field ceremony recognizing the team's six seniors.

Game two will begin 30 minutes following the completion of game one. Wake Forest's Tim Morley is expected to pitch against Clemson's Tyler Lumsden.

The entire series can be heard locally on 98.1 WBRF in Winston-Salem and on the internet at WakeForestSports.com.

Here's hoping for 2 wins for the Deacs today!
