Home remodel question
Can someone tell me what kind of permits Shelby Co requires to remodel a home (if any). No structural changes, but electrical and plumbing work will be needed. Thanks.

You will need one for electrical work. If you know what you are doing and do it well then you can get away without one.

When you sell the house you have to complete a disclaimer. Among the various questions is one asking if you're aware of any work that required pulling a permit but no permit was pulled.

So I notice that you can take a homeowners electrician's exam to obtain a permit to do your own work.

Has anyone ever taken it?

Is my understanding that they will not issue a permit for a homeowner to do any type of plumbing work correct?

Chi, when you sold, how did you get out of needing a permit to sell?
I have know several people who ran into a bunch of trouble and always have had to pay to have the electricians or whatever to come and check and okay the work.
It doesn't matter to these people if your good or not, they want the money for the permits.
Of course when the buyer finds out, they want to know that the work was done by a certified whatever.
Just too much trouble not to do the right way unless you know a way around it.
