10-6 is SCHOOLING?! LOLOL No, son. 72-49 is SCHOOLING! Yes, when your starting QB goes down on the third play of the game and a true freshman steps in to play, it does have an effect on the game.

No matter how you dress it up, it is still an excuse. Maybe your backup should have been prepared. It's not like our QB was any better

Hey, no excuses for a loss but making a razor close win sound like a dominating performance isn't right either.

Did I make an excuse for the loss? No, I was explaining that no one was schooled...except in basketball

Just be glad for injured QBs or Mississippi might've just won one game last year. Yea, I am saying that Memphis would've beat you and the Citadel would've won as well. That was the same Citadel team that lead at half at FSU, before their QB got hurt in the second half and couldn't play against you.

are you JOKING ME??!??

This HAS to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read.

We beat you. Soundly. GET THE EFF OVER IT. We had a pretty good defense, that stopped Williams in his tracks... NEITHER of your QBs had any experience, so it's downright FOOLISH to say one would have been better than the other. It's just as easy to say he would have thrown 4 INTs if he would have played and the score would have been a lot more lopsided.

Secondly... the Citadel comment is just pure DUMB.
1) They had a grand total of 81 yards of offense on the day... nothing short of JC himself could make that much of a difference if they were at QB
2) They run an option offense. Unless you're going to tally that other QB with 300 yards and 4 TDs (which is pretty improbable), it's a moot point
3) You don't know didly about football if you think that a d1aa school is going to outlast (depthwise, conditioning etc) a 1A SEC team... (state being the exception.... but hey, even when they lose to d1aa teams, they still smoke Memphis State's a$$!!)

Take a look at the stats from that game, and PLEASE tell me what area a single player out of 22 would stand out as a difference maker.

You should ban yourself.

I seem to remember Arkansas losing to the Citadel in the 90s as well.

BTW, what bowl were ya'll in last year? How about the year before that?
That's what I thought.
Hey at least we beat Southern Miss last season. What was the score when ya'll played them? Oh yeah, Mississippi REFUSES to play Southern Miss.

Take a look at the stats from the FSU game. Their QB accounted for 85% of the offense against one of the top 10 defenses in the nation. So, NO it is not a dumb post.

When you have an entire offense built around one player or a specific type of player and that player gets hurt, you suffer and usually lose.

Cuts biggest problem with your team was that he tried to run the same offense under Eli with a different QB. It didn't work and he never adjusted. You can claim recruiting (since when did you ever lead the $EC in that) was bad, but his problem was he was old-school and stuck in his ways and wouldn't bend to an administration that right-or-wrong wanted him to change.

There was a HUGE difference in our QBs last year. One was a two time Spring Game MVP that had worked for 3 years under our system and his backup was a medical redshirt, who never even scrimmaged with the team because he blew out his knee and couldn't play. So, if you are insane enough to think that there wasn't a huge blow to our offensive gameplan when our starting QB went down, then YOU ARE THE IDIOT.

And last I checked, Patrick Willis is great, but your defense is nowhere close to FSU!

And by the way, why don't you just go where the rest of Ole Miss can go....

If you think that one player can't make that big of a difference, you are insane. Look at how your team fell off of the face of the earth after Eli left. Most people are expecting Memphis to do the same without DeAngelo. So, yes, one player can make a difference of hundreds of yards against any given team.

While I won't ask you "ban yourself", why don't you just go away. Isn't your message board any good, don't you have any friends that will talk to you?

Series? Like your series with Southern Miss? The only thing that's tired and used up is Ole Miss fans delusions of grandeur. If ya'll were still that great, you wouldn't be on here trying to trash talk to a CUSA team.

Our SERIES with Southern Miss is in our favor so that doesn't work. But feel free to selectively choose stats to support your argument. Seems to be the status quo. "Those who don't learn from History are doomed to repeat it"

It was referring to your current LACK of a series with Southern and your refusal to play them. It's called reading comprehension. I'd try "Hooked on Phonics". Better yet, buy two and send one to Schaffer so he can get out of JC.

facts are

memphis is trailing bigtime in the overall record of this series.
memphis did win the last game in oxford.
memphis does have the team to win in oxford again.
mississippi is nowhere near the program it was 40 yrs ago.
mississippi fans know they will see more offensive sightings
in the grove than the stadium. thats why they just stay in the
grove during the games.

i dont hate mississippi, i just love provoking them to talk
about the past. thats all they have. its easy.

I simply said that you should be glad that both QBs got injured. I couldn't guarentee a win by either team, but I know it GREATLY helped in both teams loss.

You might have very well beat us if our QB hadn't got hurt. I know it dramatically impacted our team, coaches and DeAngelo seeing his roommate hurt that early in the game. I don't think we recovered well, but still only lost to the Mighty Mississippi by 4 points. You didn't beat us 70-3... Do you not think if Brent doesn't show up this season, or gets hurt on the first series it will impact your team and offensive philosophy.

Yea, once again, one player could be the difference in a game.

No one from our side is claiming we were mightly last year. WE LOST TO FRIGGIN' VANDY! We have nothing to be proud of last year. But to be constantly bashed when we beat you with our worst team in 40 years is pretty incomprehensible.

It would affect our team, but I pray to god our coach (and any coach for that matter) has a backup prepared. This is D1 College Football they're playing, not tiddlywinks. If Brent gets hurt on the 1st play of the season, there is no excuse for not having a backup prepared to go out and play. People get hurt in football, if they didn't it'd be called Chess.
