NASL to MLS
One ingredient is that salaries are a pittance compared to those of professional athletes in other sports. I'm all for soccer "making it" in the U.S. I'd rather see my son gravitate to it than baseball or football.

Thanks for sharing.

Definitely understandable. However, laying the financial groundwork is paramount. I'm no economist, but as money keeps coming in, it's not too outrageous to think that salaries will eventually go up as well.

The salaries are only a pittance because that's all the teams can afford right now. The premier players in soccer get paid just like NFL, NBA, and MLB players do. And you better believe, the minute that MLS can afford the likes of a Ronaldinho or Henry (if they ever can)...they'll pay up to get butts in the seats.

I'm at work and it's too loud here right now for me to hear it. I'll have to watch when I get home.

I think Donavan gets a mil a year. Sure, its low compared to the NBA and NFL, but it's not a bad living. I'm all for the salary cap right now in MLS. Sure, it makes us a "stepping stone" league, but that is fine for right now. Heck, I think there is only 3 leagues in the world that aren't "stepping stone" leagues.
