From DBR

"According to the Herald-Sun, Roy Williams hasn't really been in Chapel Hill to speak of since taking the job, which is understandable. What we find amusing - aside from the "Ol' Roy" reference - is that Ol' Roy is trying to chuck the pressure by pointing out how lousy UNC has been over the last two years. The two years when his former protege ran things. "It's a little mind-boggling for me," Ol' Roy said of the expectations. "I know North Carolina is always going to have high expectations, but we've lost 36 games the last two years. Ol' Roy ain't that good."

The cornpone routine is going to get old really soon. Wonder how Ol' Matt feels about the constant backhanded comments from Ol' Roy?"

What else would one expect?

Getting Ginyard from Duke? Duke never offered Ginyard and Ginyard publicly stated that he loved Duke.

Get your facts right, Rick.

JR Smith has me scared, too... especially how Luol Deng pasted him in the matchup between the 2.

Why would a coach make a statement like that? It's beginning to get easier to see where Doherty got his biggest influence.

That's not a back-handed comment at anyone -- it's a fact. He didn't put any blame on Doherty. He didn't even say that losing 36 games in two years was bad. All he said was that it's amazing the expectations for wins are there considering the fact that we've lost a ton of games in the past two years.

I guess he's supposed to pretend like those losses never happened just because Doherty is a good friend of his. I don't know about you, but I sure wouldn't want a coach who tiptoed around the facts like that....

LOL... you still won't answer my question... you really are dumb... here's a little logic for you...

Ginyard COULD NOT have come to Duke on a scholarship... his second choice was obviously UNC and he took advantage... he was too tired of Duke having higher priorities like Paulus and Livingston.

I'll make a mental note of how dook didn't want Ginyard -- that way I can pull that back out whenever he does something great for us....

Geez -- I've never understood why folks have to trash each other's players or pretend that they didn't want a player because another team got him.

dook wanted Ginyard, we wanted Paulus, we both want Livingston. Let's leave it at that and stop prancing around the facts....

Speaking of the facts, here is how a guy close to it all said it went down. I don't know if you all care to believe thesabre, but he has been pretty accurate on his calls.

Quote: Paulus looks to be headed to Duke. His extended visit at Notre Dame is merely a last minute effort by his parents to convince him Notre Dame is the place for him.

Paulus himself was wowed by Coach K and company on his visit, and will choose them in the end.

UNC is looking good for another big time point guard though. Real good. Will disclose information later.

Quote: Now that we have that out of the way, let us clear something up real quick. Greg Paulus wanted to play for Roy Williams. Roy Williams does not have room for Greg Paulus, Marcus Ginyard and the other two guys he wants. Roy loves Ginyards game - reminds him of Langford. He had to chose one, and so he gave them a first come, first serve deal. I was told that Paulus was blind sided by the Ginyard commitment.

You will read it went from Notre Dame to Duke. Notre Dame was never in the hunt, although Paulus will probably say otherwise out of respect.

Anyway, for you guys it doesn't matter. Roy has three players in the class of 2004 who want to attend UNC. He will only take one. If that.

It seems logical to me.

There's a VERY key difference here...

Paulus? UNC and Duke offer.
Ginyard? UNC offer... NO DUKE OFFER...
Livingston? UNC and Duke offer.

You guys keep trying to spin it that Duke wanted Ginyard... when Duke never even offered him a scholly.

RICK... BUDDY... if Duke wanted Ginyard... why not offer him a scholly? Maybe because he was Duke's #3 PG target AT BEST?
