* In an earlier thread...I commented on a quote
from an unnamed ACC Coach (Sporting News Pre-
Season College Magazine)

"The only place the ACC has caught up with FSU
is at Quarterback!" "If they had the right kid back
there, they'd stiill be winning 11 games a year!"

I think that point was made on Saturday.

Not that Rix is the right kid, but with the depth of
Florida State and that of Maryland. When healthy,
Perry is as good as any back in the country. The UMD
back-ups however are...Average at best and Stiffs
at worst. On the FSU side of the ball...Jones is
the starter...'Nuff Said! #2 TB, Leon Washington out
with a dislocated elbow. #3 Tailback Lorenzo Booker,
WOW, but then he turns an ankle. So...enter Willie
Reid...the 4TH TEAM TAILBACK...did y'all catch his
moves, speed, quickness....

Speaking of depth...FSU played 74 different players
in the FIRST HALF.

Defense still hasn't given up a TD...and last week's
shutout foe...rung up 47 on Syracuse in a losing
effort.

The ACC lost an OOC game they should have won...
UVA-So Carolina...BUT won one, the league never
believed they would when Ga Tech throttled Auburn
17-3...

Perhaps there is something to the Transit Axiom...

(With a +7 being given to the Home team...

USC beat Auburn at Auburn 23-0
BYU beat Tech at BYU 24-13

Then they swapped opponents...

USC beat BYU @ USC 35-18

Thus factoring in the +7 for hone field advantage...

USC is 30 better than Auburn
BYU is 4 better than Tech
USC is 10 better than BYU

Thus...

USC would be 14 better than Tech

And

Tech would be 16 better than Auburn...

Tech 17-3! Pretty close...huh?????

* Did y'all see where Div III Rockford College beat
Trinity Bible on Saturday...105-0!

3 things will come out of that game...

1. The Rockford Coach will say..."We weren't trying to
run up the score!"

2. The Trinity Bible Coach will say..."One day...It will
be our turn!"

3. Trinity Bible will replace Northern Illinois on the
Maryland schedule next year!

* I know and understand that the Hungry, Hungry
Hippo has turned the UMD program around. I
know that he KNOWS Offensive Football...But perhaps
the Terps are using too many schemes.

They ran Shotgun...They ran I-formation...They ran
Wishbone (actually...the run portion of the Run and
Shoot offense) Those formations have a great
many differences and thinking...

It's a thought!

* The only good news for Maryland on Saturday...

"Terpy saved a $189.00 switching to Geico Insurance!"

* Last, but certainly not least...a parting quote for
famed FSU hater and UMD fan...Damascus Terp!

"DT...If it had been a fight...THEY WOULD HAVE STOPPED IT!"

Booker hurt the ligaments in his knee the Tampa Tribune reported. He won't play this Saturday against GTech, but will be ready to go for Colorado. (At least that was what was reported and I hope he'll be all right.)
