I've tried not to vent too much, actually, given that we've only lost one game. It's just that once again, the first chapter has played itself out in the script that we've been performing for the last seven years. This might really be a rough year for the Pack though. Every other program in the conference has gathered some momentum, sometimes starting in the offseason:

- GT has come storming out of the gates and looks to be very competitive.
- UNC has started strong, and has a major upgrade at head coach.
- Duke will be Duke; Maryland will be Maryland.
- Prosser has turned Wake into an elite team in his third year.
- FSU has pulled in the nation's best recruiting class by some rankings.
- Clemson made a coaching change.
- Well, I doubt UVA will be any good, but at least they won this week.

Meanwhile, we've had to deal with Powell going "pro" and not getting drafted or signed by anybody. A freaking mystery, isn't it? I'm afraid our days "feasting" on a weaker ACC are over. GT, UNC, and FSU are all taking steps and threatening to leave us behind. If we continue to run in place ourselves, we will be fighting to stay out of the Les Robinson Invitational.

I've seen more than enough to know that Herb Sendek will never win the ACC tournament, will never win the regular season or even finish 2nd, will never get to a Sweet Sixteen, will never develop anybody into a first round draft pick, will always have problems with mental toughness, will always have problems with transfers, and will never field a team that is consistently exciting to watch.

I don't know why I even bother to complain, it appears he'll be here for the next 20 years

If he doesn't take this group past the first 2 rounds in the NCAA's, he should be gone. State will win their share of games, probably split with Tech, UNC, FSU, UMD, and Wake, and beat Clemson and UVA both times.

I wouldn't be too worried, U of M is good, but you had the better team. A top-notch coach, and you gys would easily be top 3 in the conference. Without, you will probably be from 4-6.

And..NCState isn't the only team to lose someone they needed down low. 03-razz 03-wink

Ah, c'mon, UDC -- you are missing the brilliance of Sendek's coaching. We had almost a 10-minute scoring drought in that game. Almost ridiculously long-*** scoring droughts are regular features of Herb's game plan. But still, we're competitive in nearly every game. This means we have a chance to win playing only 30 minutes of offense to the other team's 40. That's efficient basketball, my friend!!!!!1

:stupid:

Actually, I do feel better -- after watching Marcus Melvin on the news last night. He said, and this is almost a direct quote,

Quote:We have the talent where we can have an 8-9 minute scoring drought, cuz I know in like 2 minutes we can score a whole lot.

See, back in those long, dark Les years, I was hoping for the kind of talent that could go 8-9 minutes without scoring ...
