By MITCHELL KLINE

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has chosen the 10-mile route that would complete State Route 840 in southwestern Williamson County, eventually creating an unbroken connection between Interstate 40 in Dickson County and I-40 in Wilson County.

But those anxious to take the cross-county drive will have to wait at least five years before the entire roadway is completed.

Quote:I love it when you guys (TallVol) come over here talking smack about recruiting because you've had one nice year.

Memphis has been in the Top 25 rated recruiting classes every year Coach Calipari has been here.

We don't depend upon Memphis players to be rated in the Top 10 rated recruiting classes either

And pointed out the fact that maybe that's not necessarily something that is worth bragging about, considering the Tigers have one NCAA tournament win during that time. That tells me 1.)either your recruiting classes were vastly overrated or 2.) Cal just did a pisspoor job coaching some incredibly talented teams.

Which is it?

Quote: Why is this guy trying to talk smack? You lost remember?
88-79

I do remember, and thats why you have not seen me say UT is better than Memphis this season in any of my posts. I give Memphis full credit for being one the nation's top teams this year. But that doesn't change the fact that I think you guys won't be beating UT again for awhile.

Quote:oh now this is FUNNY...how many NCAA wins did Buzz get you guys???

and if i remember right (which I do) UT lost in the first round of the NIT 2 straight years

I'm not the one bragging about our great recruiting classes of the past years. That would be you guys. The ones with all the top 10 classes and the 1 NCAA tournament win. UT was lucky to even get in the NIT with Buzz as coach and recruiter. It's a shame you guys couldn't have played Buzz's Vols a few times. The series might be closer if you had.

In conclusion, enjoy this season. Revel in it. You are one of the nation's most talented teams. Cheer for your team and hope that they play well in March. But realize that it won't last. Shawne Williams will be gone. Carney will be gone. You'll still be in C-USA. And all those top 25 home games this season will be returned on the road next season. Plus Cal will still be calling the plays. Sounds liek a recipe for disaster to me.

So, you choose to ignore the fact that the Vols may lose 4 or 5 games before the end of this month. You would rather talk smack than defend the prowess of your team. Once teams figure out their press and tell the big men to keep the ball high, the party is over.

Let's have a discussion about what is evident. The SEC is down. Pearl plays a style that needs to be seen by opposing coaches. Once they survey the landscape, it is easy to beat. Ask LSU!!!

Now, let's debate the obvious and stay away from foolish tirades.

Tiger-Tug,

Guess what. Pearl has been coaching the same style for 20 years and he has never had a losing season. If coaches haven't figured his style out by now, I'm thinking they're not going to figure it out. Or maybe, more likely, there is nothing to figure out. There's no magic to what Pearl is doing. He's not the first coach to run a full court 1-2-1-1 press for fourty minutes a game. He's not the first coach to run picks and back door cuts. He just makes sure that the guys on the court run it precisely the way it is supposed to be run. Thats what UT has done and it has led to a very succesful season. And an 8-1 start in what the NCAA's RPI thinks is the nation's 4th toughest conference. And because it is the nationest 4th toughest conference, you are right, it's very likely UT will lose a couple more games. Thats what happens when you play tough games on the road (something this year's Tigers wouldn't know about). But whether we win the rest, or lose the rest, UT is back. They'll be in the tournament in Pearl's first year with a team that is only 7 players deep and only one starter over 6'5. This was the year to beat UT, fortunately, most teams couldn't take adavantage. Memphis did. Congrats. But it won't happen again.

13 months ago, if you had told a Tennessee fan that Bruce Pearl will be their next coach, they'd be furious.

"We're better than a mid-major coach"
"Two thirds of those wins were Division II wins"
etc. etc.

Now, after six months, Bruce Pearl is a genius, and their dominance over Memphis (the city and the team) is just beginning.

I love it.

That is insane, so we can quote you know as saying because "Bruce Almighty" 01-wingedeagle is your coach that the Tigers will be hard pressed to ever beat Tennessee again. So you are predicting UT dominance over the tigers in this series? I hope you are not because if that is the case you know nothing about basketball, but hey that may be the case you are a UT fan.

The future games will be competitive as the one this year was, but I can guarantee you that we will win our share, possible more than our share.

Congrats on your season so far.

You seemed to question Cal's coaching ability in an earlier post. Just so you know, Cal is the 7th fastest coach to 300 wins in NCAA history. Names like Roy Williams, Denny Crum, Jim Boehiem and Tubby Smith are also on that list.

You seem very confident about your chances against us next year in Knoxville and in subsequent years. Assuming Shawne and Darius both leave (personally I think only one or the other will leave), and knowing Carney is gone, we will lose alot. However, Andre Allen, CDR, and Joey Dorsey would start for your team right now, and they will all be back. Add in Antonio Anderson, Robert Dozier, Kareen Cooper, plus the additions of Willie Kemp, Pierre Niles, and the other recruits, and I like our chances to the tune of $100. Are you interested, or just running your mouth?

Yes, he is an idiot, but leave him alone. We will try to call him out at the appropriate time. He is like a lot of OM fans who come on this board to spam, but when their predictions fail, you can't find them. When UT starts losing again, you won't hear from him for a long time. UT is back? Where have they been??? I don't remember when they have ever been there. Maybe in thei imagination.

Who do you want to hold the money? Tell you what. I just got a huge bonus. Let's bet $25,000 that the Tigers will never beat the Vols again, That is what you said. right.

It is obvious that you don't know anything about basketball. Have you ever made a jump shot? If you think the SEC is the 4th best conference in the nation, you are a fool.

Pearl hasn't been the coach of a Division 1 school for 20 years. His only Division 1 job was UW-M. What are they doing this year? Tennessee will be back to the same old , same old next year.

They don't have an inside presence, How many times do I need to tell you? Pound the ball inside. Don't leave Lofton for un-contested shots. The game is over. You can dress it up anyway you want.

From a recruiting stand point, they will get players from Memphis. Everybody in the nation is recruiting in Memphis. Cal will get the top player in Memphis every year( if he wants him). Then, he will recruit the best players in the country to complete the class. If UT's entire focus is going to be on the recruitment of Memphis players, their success will be limited. By the way, what in the hell is it for an inner-city kid to do in Knoxville? Nearly everyone that goes up there from Memphis is arrested for drugs, rape or some trumped up charge when their eligibility is up. A friend of mine has a son that goes to UT. Some fool painted a KKK on his dorm door. What stupid fool wants to endure that kind of crap? Wake up. This is the 21st century.

Now, what!!!!

So Cal didn't want Thad Young?

You should concentrate on making arguments that actually stand up to analysis. So far you are just boasting.

Lord, now I am getting pulled into this idiot's posts. If you kept up at all with recruiting, especially in Memphis, then you would know why we stopped recruiting Young a long time before he committed. Sure he is a fantastic player but way too much baggage with his family and posse. Cal didn't want to play that game or want that distraction.

You can't jump into being a College basketball fan and act like you know what you are talking about just b/c your team is having one good year. BTW, having a successful tourney run means having depth especially at the guard position and having at least a little inside defense. Wingate couldn't hold my jock much less a real post player. Your guys will fade fast as tourney time rolls around. See you in Knoxvegas next year.....

In the past 10 years, UT has won 3 NCAA tourney games. UM has won 1. If you want to go back to 95, then the schools have the same number of NCAA tourney wins.

you musta gotta pretty good tax refund there, cappy. that's alot of swiss to be betting on Pearl. aside from the fact that we beat you straight up this year, and we have another Top 10 class coming next year, and no forseeable major coaching changes on the horizon, and returning so many players, you can ONLY be betting that bruce is going to turn his team into worldbeaters next year. you must have brass ones the size of a basketball to wager on that. everybody else on this board has you pegged. your posts are moronic. and if i had 5k laying around, i'd take your money nice and easy for you.
