I keep hearing stories about Amato wants to hire Randy Shannon defensive coordinator for NC State?
If you get him thats one hell of a coach to have, in his first year as D coach UM won the National Championship and had the #1 ranked D.
Shannon also has the credentials to be a head coach, which I thought he would pursue, but hey if you get him thats a very big pick up for the WolfPack but an even bigger loss to the Canes.
They lost their Offensive coordiantor to the Cleveland Browns, and now if Shannon leaves

If he does, then we'll really see what Larry Coker is made of. No offense to State, but I can't see the point of Shannon leaving Miami to come to Raleigh and take the same position.

Joltin

I heard NC State is offering him at 6 figures more then Miami is willing to offer.
Now I dont know about you but if someone wanted to give me $100,000 more then I would seriously consider leaving also.
You also made a very good point, one that I have thought.
Besides the money why would Shannon leave unless it was to become a head coach.

Well, for a chance at $100k more and moving to a solid program like NCSU, I'd probably go for it too. If it was an "even trade" I wouldn't, but money definitely talks these days.

I haven't seen anything official, but the reports drifting in are that Shannon will remain with UM. I'm sure they counter-offered, so it worked out for him.
