1) We DO NOT have a basketball attendance problem

2) The only way to get a full house at "buy" games is to have a larger group of fans to draw from for live games.

3) Compliaining about attendance NEVER increases attendance

4) Our "buy" game attendance is has increased every game til tonight which was predictable

5) The school WILL NOT sell season tickets at this point of the year -- if you want tickets to all the games you must buy individual tickets to each game --I dont know if this is common but it seems a little counter productive

6) My opinion about those that do not come is I am glad the PAID their $$$ to the U, It is their choice what they do with their time, THEY ARE MISSING A GOOD TIME.

note ---we ONLY filled six of our eight tickets last night (and one was a cannabalized from the upper deck) We tried pretty hard to find takers for our tickets --they are pretty good seats -- and were turned down numerous times ( many expressed interest in specific future games)

Dear Season Ticket Holders,

Thank you for buying your tickets. We appreciate your financial support, whether you are able to have a fanny in your seats for every game or not.

You miss the point, I am not making excuses, or apologizing. I did not want to go to last nights game. Watching it on TV was what I wanted to do.

and for the flip side.....

Dear Memphis FANS,

Thank you for those that did show up for the game last night. Although it was not a marquee opponent we very much appreciate you taking your time and effort to actually come watch us play. We do feed off the crowd and wish every game could be well-attended. We will give our all-out effort for every single game regardless of who we play and where they are ranked. I wish more would come to watch US as opposed to watching who we are playing against.

Yours truly,
The Tiger Basketball Team & coaching staff

The one thing I've learned is b*tching about attendance isn't going to get more people to the games so why worry about it. It isn't something in our control.

Just enjoy going to the games and be thankful for the 8-10 thousand that DO go to the games (come to think of it I never see threads thanking those diehards).

Jeez...folks....

Have you not gotten it yet??!?! We are mid-major fans in a mid-major conference. There are only about 8,000 die-hard, true blue tiger fans for basketball. The rest are only fans when we play somebody that is of national notarity otherwise known as the "social" games. It took me awhile but I finally grasped the fan situation and will no longer complain about it. Ned is right. It does no good because these people really don't care in the end.

We are a national basketball program with a mid-major fan base. Once we all accept this, life on the board will be much easier....

I know your reading comprehension is low so I will spell it out for you ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL means like games have seen an increase in attendance --people WANT to see OUR team --just MORE want to see OUR team play quality opponents ---

BTW -- exactly where are YOUR season tickets..

All things being equal?? The attendance is not growing . as far as my season tickets 3 of them are in the Upper deck and 5 are in one of the suites. Where are yours? we are what we are. we announcetickets sold of around 13, 500, with actual attendance of 8-8,500, but you think we should be quiet so no one else notices. Hmm, let me see if I understand.
We supposed to be ok w/ mediocre fan performance but not ok with mediocre team performance. That's a double standard wouldn't you say?
Teams FEED off crowds. Home court advantage is contingent on large night in, night out crowds. We have to have that to reach the pinnacle of this sport.
I don't know if this analogy works but it came to mind. Let's say you're a kid that plays a sport. Your parents pay for your equipment, they buy tickets, and tell you how great you are. But they don't show up for the game. Would you feel good because you know they support you or disappointed they didn't show? Half of life is showing up, 75% of support is showing up. It's that simple.
Put yourself in a player's shoes for a minute. You play #15 Texas at home on Monday and lose. Then the next game there is not even half that in the stands the next game. Do you feel that the fans were there to see Texas or do you feel they only support me when I win?
My biggest ***** is with the students. The fact that more than half of these "die hard" Tigers fans gave the perception that they only care about big name opponents and getting face time on ESPN.
