I am an NIU fan coming out to College Park for the NIU/Maryland game Labor Day weekend. My group (5 of us) have booked rooms at the Best Western, which seems to be close to campus. What local bars would you recommend? We will be getting in Friday night, and will be ready to get the weekend started!

I went to the NIU game at Alabama last year, and had a great time drinking with the Alabama fans, both the night before and after the game. The Alabama fans were pretty friendly, even after we upset them 19-16. We're looking forward to another fun atmosphere in College Park, this year, win or lose. :)

and bentley's which is sometimes the more older crowd of this list.

i thought i'd also throw and invite to our tailgate party. the powers that be will get mad at me for saying this, but there is a huge contingency of terp fans that post on another message board (see, i didn't say the name of it) that tailgate together. we have friends and fellow posters from other boards join us for every game. it's a great time and a great way for opposing fans to come to college park and have a great time. drop me an e-mail at poohling@myterps.com if you want more details. really, we'd love to have some saluki's at our tailgate.
