Re: More on Yaser Zaatini, ETSU Coach of the Year
This says it all about the Atlantic Sun and NEVER would I have thought that this would have came out of the mouth of the prodigal son of Dave Mullins. It's a sad day when we're having rely on the tennis coach to be the most vocal about the displeasure in this conference. This makes me atleast want to think that MAYBE the coaches want out of the A-Sun.

The thing is this isn't enough to really do anything.
I mean awards are awards. I happen to think Coach or Manager of the Year Awards are jokes- because they are merely cop outs for media (or coaches) to say "Gee. We didn't recognize the talent you had at the beginning of the year. Here's a way for us to save face!"
Now, in the case of ETSU Tennis, this may be a reflection of two things-
A- Campbell went from 8-13 to 13-9. ETSU, in contrast, went 19-7 in 2006 to 21-4.
B- I wonder how well ETSU marketed Zaatini. If you go to etsubucs.com, they don't even have this year's media guide up. They have last years.
C- Last year four players made All A-Sun from ETSU.
D- If Zaatini wishes to point any fingers at anyone for Olivares for not winning the A-Sun Player of the Year, he might want to point it at himself.
Only five times this year was Olivares named ETSU's No. 1 player. His overall record was 26-10.
Laalej was Stetson's No. 1 player 13 times, rising up from being the Hatters' No. 4 or 5 player earlier in the year. His overall record was 22-3.
Yes, Olivares did beat Laalej earlier, but even so, wouldn't you vote a 22-3 basketball team ahead of a 26-10 team in the same conference?
I wish I could see this as what you say, Zaatini speaking out against the Athletic Administration for getting ETSU in the A-Sun Conference.
But I only see it as sour grapes.
