if I am Murry Bartow
I tender my resignation in the morning.
This move shows that ETSU will continue to fund non-revenue sports that do not matter, that won't get ETSU on the map, that won't give Tennessee students a chance to be involved in athletics and get an Education.
This move virtually assures hoops that they will continue to play the Florida Gulf Coasts of America. It shows that they will never be going against competitive teams, except to be a sacrificial lamb in a 1-16 or 2-15 NCAA game....if they are lucky to avoid the "Opening Round Game" in beautiful Dayton.
ETSU has shown they care more about building soccer stadiums and soccer programs that will not be competitive. ETSU has shown they care more about golfers and tennis from across the pond than from this state. ETSU has shown they care more about sports that no one attends.
if this current trend keeps up, and the administration remains in charge....is it plausible that in 10-20 years, they want to drop basketball, because no one shows up for home games and their is no interest in fans seeing Florida North Gulf Shores community college come to town.
Murry Bartow should get out while the getting is good. And find a real athletic program with a real athletic director...

I agree. Without the return of football we have NO CHANCE of ever moving up. We are stuck in the ASUN. Get used to it.

I don't buy that- I'll explain why in another post.
But I wouldn't quit if I was Bartow.
Oh, mind you, I would call up the newly hired coaches at wherever and ask if they might be interested in a seasoned right hand man, and I might apply for some other vacancies out there.
I wouldn't leave ETSU for Chicago State if I was Bartow, but I would for South Alabama.
But I think his job hunting would be more successful if he was a working coach than an out of work coach.
I wouldn't quit- but I would be looking.

True....I was meaning getting another job elsewhere, just not quitting on a whim.
Of course, he was successful getting this job being an out of work coach

Bartow has to do something to pay the bills.
And remember, he was turned down for several other mid-major jobs he'd applied for before landing at ETSU.
The fact Mullins had a ready-made NCAA team and the best coach he could find was a guy who hadn't coached in a year and wasn't going to coach anywhere else speaks volumes.
Especially when you consider the coach Keener Frye brought in after a 7-20 season with only one eligible player to build on.
