What is the capacity suppose to be for the stadium? It looks kind of small.

stadium
Let us hope the planners take this opportunity to make a modern, nice well thought out stadium that puts the fans close to the action and gives plenty of reason for fans to go to the games. Of course it will be small, around 10 or 12K but that is a starting point. I know it is only a drawing but to me the grandstands looked to be curved somewhat for what reason I cannot think. That only serves to put people in less that optimum viewing postition. We need to think all the details through and make this stadium as nice as possible. We have to remember that recruiting will depend on it also.

Probably curved for future expansion so they can totally enclose it if needed.

That is the same stadium that Dorman HS has in Spartanburg. Same thing. Look at this link.

If you notice the over head drawing of ETSU's new John Robert Bell Stadium, it shows that there are a few spots saved for expansion.

stadium
I like the way there is a bowl around the stadium so theoretically fans could sit all the way around it in a big game type atmoshere but I still have reservations about curving on the sidelines as I think a "paperclip" design would be more fan friendly and make for better viewing. It is just my take on it and I could be wrong. I think it is a first good step though.

Is the official name going to be John Robert Bell Stadium? I figured they'd probably sell the naming rights.

stadium
I would hope that we can get corporate sponsorship for the stadium and therefore preclude a lot of the fundraising and would let the company put its name on the stadium. Of course, the field itself could be called John Robert Bell field or something like that. One other detail I noticed was the the seating does not seem very steep with a gentle angle that sets people at the top quite a distance from the field. Just a little thing I think they should consider before decisions are made so we can make this small stadium a really special place to play home games where the players and the fans can have a really good time. I just would like to optimize the stadium and make it something people can talk about and alumni can be proud of.
