MEDIA WATCH- March 14
PROPS- To Bill Meade.

He absolutely duplicated my feelings towards the NCAA Tournament, that both the tournament and the conference champ should make the NCAAs and the play-in game is a joke.

Which readers of this message board know I have been saying for a long time.

If you want to debate this- though.

Certainly such a format would put overwhelming emphasis on conference play. Out-of-conference games would be almost irrelevant.

It would be interesting then to see how scheduling would be handled.

And the thing about this is a team like Appalachian State would likely not even make the NIT- since they didn't win either their conference's regular season or tournament.

Thoughts?

He's been saying that since I started listening to him, 15 years ago. He added the play-in game into his bitching and moaning when they started playing it.
Bill must be reading the message boards, right Marky? Maybe he should give you a job, oh wait, nevermind, you'd just get fired in two weeks anyway.
BTW for the newcomer's of the board, I have an assignment, I want ya'll to do a google search on Marky Billson and read up, look away. In some cases, a picture is worth a thousand words.

The idea was to give a shout out to a good idea.

In your case, a post speaks volumes about your ability to comprehend things.

Please let's not get into another month long argument over the haircut again!

Actually, I like the idea especially from a midmajor perspective. With the major conferences the conference tournament for many is just about seeding, or the chance for a big underdog to get in. For a team like ETSU, the pressure on just one game means everything. I think it would take some pressure off the regular season champion and give a few more midmajor teams a chance at the NCAAs.

What about the Howard Dean screamoff? Maybe the Dukes of Hazzard fanclub?
You must want that sales job at Citadel awfully bad, you were making fun of sales jobs in previous posts, and now you're kissing BIll Meade's ass.

I have been an advocate for this fomat for years. Meade and I differ on what to do if the regular season champ and the tourney champ are the same. He advocates the creation of an at large bid, in effect a place for yet another Big Cash School. I believe that in that event you take the conference tourney runner up.
