Wow, that was an extremely candid interview... I'm wondering if that showed their hand too much... Waples saying he wants Big East may not look so well to the A-Sun.

As far as I'm concerned, every bit of that piece was encouraging. I'm just wondering why they have been secret to everyone but this guy at the journal. I hope they take a larger look at who they tell when there's some concrete answers. AJC is a must and lately they've been nice to us with Betty, Almost Win over UGA, Spaceship earth (bad is good, etc) so throwing this in there would almost get us front page on a weekday. I haven't seen much for Georgia State in the AJC for a while, at least not as much as KSU.

well its no secret that ksu doesnt want to stay in the sun that long. I like how waples is looking big and eyeing the big east. thats still a while away, but i like the fact that he's not looking to be just another 1-aa team. Posting a story like this in the AJC would be big. when i talked to waples once, i knew his goal was to get a 1-a team just by telling me how much the stadium would cost.

I think they'll have to put the stadium across from campus. they do have enough room to put a stadium across from the baseball field but the problem is they wont have room for parking. i dont know maybe they'll figure something out. plus arent they supposed to build a lab addon to the science building. that would take more of the room away.

Your AD is 75 years old? Sounds like he is the right man in charge. Hope he gets the ball rolling while he's still in charge.

edit -- nevermind, thats a big donor that's 75 years old at the end. Your AD is in great position to get it done then.

Yes... this looks like it is going to happen faster then i thought... all the numbers and the wide range of people he interviewed shows that this isnt just some silly article... and the big east? wow big step up... that would def take a while! I hope a lot of people noticed this article.

Well going to the big east site admitting I couldn't name a lot of teams from the big east they list 16 schools (including Notre Dame) of which 8 are D-I Football. Why did they change the name from D-IA to Football Subdivision. They all make for an extreme travel budget except USF (Which is still 7 hours away going 80mph). Glad I'm just going to be bugged by phone instead of having to pay for the tuition hikes that's going to require if they ever end up there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_East_Conference

It would be a fun ride.

I'm not sure how much Waple's age has to do with it. If needbe, they'll just find someone else hopefully a former D-1 Football Athletic Director who knows the ropes. Vince Dooley? ah, age same thing. Wishful thinking too. Get someone in here after Waples has laid the foundation and filled out the paperwork to get us competeting in D-1 which he's doing a great job.

we will know a lot more by april. thats when the whole study thing for the school will be done.

just so weird seeing all these numbers and the interest from the school to go up that quickly when for a while they wouldnt tell us anything and kept saying 10 years.

it prob wont happen, but i would love it if we got a football team b4 ga state.

i dont understand....the poll is actually close. i mean mens soccer? i know we need it for the conference in all..but comeon. and why the hell would we add swimming and diving? what a waste of money. football should be a must...but if we didnt add it..we could at least add a hockey team. that would be pretty cool.

I don't know either unless everyone that plays in the pick up games on Sundays are going online. I can't believe the amount of people they get for those games.

nada, just the new parking lot/building going up in the burress lots. That's the next project. The auditorium is taking longer than I expected to complete. Seems to be in a similar holding pattern the Convocation Center was in. Unlike the social sci building which was put up like a pop-tent only larger and more permanent.

Other building projects slated soon are the old gym additions or subtractions with the pool. Trying to put a permanent floor down in the convocation center. I would hope to see the roof reinforced so we could get a jumbotron/scoreboard in the center. I believe they have/had one that costed a ton of money but the roof couldn't support it.

Umm, permanent soccer stands are needed, bleechers make it feel like a weekend at Noonday Park.

Signage needed, doesn't have to be electronic, just better than the shabby ones they have now for baseball/softball (and i would like to add basketball)

I'm sure there's plenty of things to throw money at. A skywalk from frey lake parking lot (waffle house) to 2nd story staircase parking deck. Expanding across one of the streets (office parks over chastain or Big Shanty. Sidewalk from east deck to soccer/baseball fields

Pretty sure most if not all of this has not been talked about but needs to happen.

Great article, it even mentioned football. I also had an idea to cut down on parking at KSU. Many schools in the state, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, and Georgia State all have public transportation. I know at Georgia Southern, when I was there( and before they had public transportation), you could not get a parking space on campus if you lived in certain apartment complexes that were a certain distance from campus. What if KSU started public transportation and made it mandatory for students who lived in apt complexes like the ones on Busbee. The buses could even head down to the apts on Barrett Lakes. Maybe some people prefer to drive and get frustrated for such relatively short distances but I know I would want to hop on a bus at a scheduled time and not have to worry about parking and just be let out on campus. Probably a lot closer to a building than some of parking decks, especially the north deck. Anyone have any thoughts. Just think Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech have them and they are smaller schools by population that KSU.

From Papp's State of the University speech today, I was told they will know a lot more after this study and is willing to talk about it for the campus. So we'll see. Here's to hoping *toast*
