Rivalry Game tonight in Boiling Springs
Tonight is the first big showdown between Gardner-Webb and Campbell of this season, with only four games over these next two years left before the game is relegated to a non-conference affair in the 08-09 season.

I anticipate an extremely competitive game tonight in Porter Arena. Three weeks ago I would have said that Campbell would have rolled over the Webb, but after Campbell's recent collapse, I think the Runnin' Dawgs have a shot.

The two stats that concern me: Campbell's propensity to put points on the board at a clip much higher than the Dawgs. AND how the boys from Buies Creek lead the ASUN in assists per game. I believe that is a underrated statistic as it reflects on how well a team shares the ball and how often a team falls into the trap of playing one-on-one basketball.

I predict that Gardner-Webb wins the game, contrary to the popular belief in this week's ASUN predictions. FINAL SCORE: GWU 74 CAM 71

Good call on your picks, Campbell is 1-9 on the road. Place your bets that they give up the next 2 on the road as well (KSU & ETSU).

Campbell will be scary come tournament time, they could win by 30 or lose by 10

You are right mercerfan. I believe Campbell can beat any team in the conference and lose to anyone in the conference. The poor performance we had last week against North Florida should have proven that. Then the next game against Jacksonville was awesome.

You never know which team is going to show up. It is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. If they play as they are capable then they can make a real run in the tournament but they can also be one and done. Just look at the implosion we had at Mercer a few weeks ago. I still don't know how you lose a 23 point lead. Give credit to Mercer for a great comeback but there is just no good excuse for losing a 23 point lead. We could have held the ball for 35 seconds each possession and not scored and could not have done much worse.

Campbell's style of play is prone to those types of swings. It happens every year.
