A question for you all....
Folks,

Lately I've been getting a lot of PMs from various posters about issues with posts that violate the terms of the AUP with namecalling and the like.

There are two schools of thought:

1) Delete the posts for their content.
2) Leave the posts up for everyone to see the original poster's ignorance.

Keeping that in mind, would you rather we keep things the way they are, or open up a second ETSU forum right below the main one called "ETSU Smack" which would not be as strict in following the rules of the AUP (certainly things like direct threats would be removed, but namecalling would be left alone).

This way, we could move any posts that were deemed "unfit for general consumption" from the main board to the smack board, rather than locking, editing, or deleting them.

Does that sound fair? Let me know what you think. I'd like to hear from you, the people this board is here for. Feel free to comment below on why you feel one way or the other.

If you want to see an example of what I mean, see the Kent State boards on the MACbbs:

See, ETSU Smack isn't going to prevent, say, "YouKnowWhoThisIs" to start touting how she is the savior of the NCAA and then take personal shots at me or Crazy or someone else in the process.

Also- you get one board becoming dominant that way.

Such a board takes away the hard-hitting crticism that needs to be said on a free speech board.

Where does it all end? Will Paul Stanton now complain and say you have to make the poster who uses his picture with "Idiot" over it as his avatar change it?

The PC movement is destroying society and we've all been victims of it for things we have said that have been taken COMPLETELY out of context.

Besides- the people supposedly all offended have said they will go away.

They can either live up to their word, or they can overstep their boundaries and destroy the forum of open ideas for all of us.

Just because our basketball program is rivaling that of a top notch high school program, doesn't mean we're actually in high school.

Keep the site as is and allow the smack talk. If your feelings get hurt, community boards are obviously not the forum for you. 04-chairshot

yeah I agree lets keep it the way it is. We ETSU fans like it this way. This is the big boys board. If people can't take it then they can go to the delphia board and cry with the rest of them. Plus since the ETSU admin is starting to catch onto the popularity of this board then we need to have plenty of smack for them to read, sort of what we provided for them during the soconhoops.com days.

Keep the boards the way they are and delete the crap. All the crap that one or two ETSU fans post, makes everyone think that we are all morons.

Agreed...keep it the way it is. BUT if one thread just gets to be two or three people going on and on about nothing but personal insults then please someone lock and close that thread. I get enough of that at home with the kids. Thanks.

Let's get the truth out on this board, nothing more, nothing less. The insults were over the top, but if ethics and standards are the word of the day, as well as attacks on our piss poor administration then wasn't the person in question, administration?
