Aren't they the Blue Wave for baseball now, though? I remember rooting for FAU (watching gametracker or something) when they were in a baseball regional a few years ago, but I thought they'd changed since then.

Rice folks joked about getting Kennesaw State, Southern CT State (D-II), FAU, & Temple all together in the "all-Owl, all-the-time conference". (I said we should get Bryn Mawr in there too, for Title IX sports.) I think David Krysakowski thought we were serious. :laugh:

I think that FAU wanted to unify under one logo and one team name...

For example, this baseball press release from the A-Sun website calls them the "Owls":

In my search for info, I found their new logo, which I replaced the old one with up above... mean looking owl!

You've got to admit, the A-Sun has an interesting collection of mascot names.

All righty then! I'm glad they didn't ditch the Owl... you've got to love a mascot that can turn its head backwards & then halfway around again. (Mump or FastCat might say that's so they can watch while the Coogs are kicking their butts, but it's not true, I tell ya.)

Anyway, the A-Sun sure does have some interesting mascots. Interesting mascots rule. :D
