It's old news, but many probably don't know. Montavious Waters (freshman) signed with Mercer after the season started, so he was not eligible til next season. He's a 6'3 guard with a very extensive background in high school. He was formerly with USF (C-USA, Big East), so this is a huge acquisition for Mercer.

I personally want to see Waters in the starting lineup next year, I think this guy can be a huge spark for our team.

19.5 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists a game in high school. 2 time all-state, #1 Point Guard in Georgia one year.

Sweet. Always pays to have a good "floor general," especially during tournament play.

How's the frontcourt? I saw Mercer play UCF a couple years ago, and Mercer's frontcourt looked pretty solid at the time.

If by 'frontcourt' you mean our guards, we should remain very solid there. I hope he starts Jacob Skogen and Damitrius Coleman at guard, then Montavious at the 3rd guard where he can get boards as well. Damitrius was in the running for most assists in the NCAA, not sure if he finished that way, but 98% sure he did.

I have to hand it to UCF, their defense just collapsed all over our high scoring guards this season, thus explaining our 2 large-scale losses to you this past season. Your coach was nice enough to not run the score up.

Also, our main problem was that we always had to get the ball to Coleman to bring up the court (he just had the most ability, and no one else could do it as carefree)

Well other teams picked up on this and started causing turnovers. This is why I desperately hope Montavious is in the starting lineup for 05-06. We need another guy who can bring the ball up to cut down on the turnovers.

By "frontcourt," I actually meant the forward and center positions, but no big deal.

NCAA.org indicates that, thru games played on 4/4/2005, Damitrius Coleman was tied for first in assists per game (8.0). Will Funn of Portland State also averaged 8.0 assists. Coleman and Funn each finished with 224 assists for the season. It's unclear from this site who actually had the highest number of assists for the season, but it looks like that person would be Illinois' Deron Williams (264 assists for the season, 6.8 assists per game).
