Hey gang,

It's a bit early to brag, but the Stetson Hatters have finally benefitted from some solid pitching this past week. This team has produced runs all year long (28 against the vaunted Golden Knights staff in three games), but has failed to get any kind of consistent pitching. Obviously, in baseball you don't put together win streaks without good pitching no matter how many runs you score. But maybe, just maybe, the Hatter hurlers are starting to gell. If this ballclub gets anykind of decent pitching, and I don't mean that on a par with FAU or UCF, they could be very dangerous.

Jon Destefano keeps hitting in the clutch and a total of 7 starters are hitting .333 or higher. The most amazing of whom is Chris Johnson -- a definite AllAmerican this year (.472 average, .522 OBP and .700 SLG PCT.) Bocock was certainly on track for the presitgious award as well before his freak injury. With Bocock the Hatters are the best defensive team in the league, without him they are good, but not great. The DP combo (Paritz/Bocock) is as good as any in college baseball and integral to their success as weel. If he doesn't return in time to be 100% ready come tourney time, that could be a death blow to Stetson Conference Tournament/Regional hopes.

Look forward to the Belmont @ Stetson series in a couple of weeks. It could be a do or die series for Belmont and with the three quality Belmont starters it should make for a great weekend series. If Belmont gets get a lead they have one of the top ASUN closers in Blake Owens. I am hard pressed to figure out why Vandy let him go.
