Quote:One of the most dominating low-post players in the Atlantic Sun Conference and arguably the most talented men’s basketball player to represent Jacksonville University in the last 20 years has transferred to Kent State.

Two-time All-Atlantic Sun selection Haminn Quaintance enrolled in classes in Kent on Tuesday. After sitting out the upcoming season as a transfer, the athletic 6-foot-7 power forward could give the Golden Flashes double figures in both scoring and rebounding on a nightly basis.

Can anyone comment on this guy? He says he left because his coach left. Sounds like a quality player. What do you know about him? Big loss for JU?

You saw our opinions of him on the other thread. He would have been one of the best players in the asun this year, but left because hugh durham retired. No offense to kent state, but im surprised he transferred to another 1 bid league. He definitely has the talent to play at some big time schools. Great pickup for you guys.

He isnt really a post up player, though. He's long and plays the 4 (or the 3) but rarely posts up. He's more of a slasher/rebounder than a traditional low post player.

Yeah, he transferred after last season so he has to sit out a season. I dont think he has redshirted yet, so he can redshirt this year.

Correct. He sits out this year and has two years remaining.
The MAC has been shafted in getting a second bid despite being usually in teh top 12 conferences. That changes this year with our AD now on the selection committee for the next few years. The MAC will be heard from. Last year was particularly aggregious when we set a record for a conference having the most teams in the top 50 RPI not selected to the tourney.

I know, the mac was ranked 7th and got 1 bid and cusa was ranked 8th and got more. Perception is sometimes more than reality.
