Who would you like to fill the hole on next year's schedule?
My understanding is that our basketball schedule is set for next year except for one game. Who would you all like for us to schedule to fill that slot?

If I had a vote I would say go for AUSTIN PEAY!!!

They are on top of the OVC right now and I don't think they have a single senior!!! They could be a real rpi builder next year especially if we beat them on the road.

And the cherry on top is that Peay is the absolute easiest road trip to make. Half the crowd would be WKU fans.

Fill that slot today!!!

Would this be a road game or a home game, because that would affect my choices?

#1 - UK...but only in Diddle. It'll never happen but you asked :-)
#2 - An ACC, B10 or SEC team

I have not seen the schedule yet, but Austin Peay always gives us a good game. It is a safe game (maybe) , but I would love to see another SEC/ACC/BIG 10/BIG12 type of game. Next year should be the perfect year to make some noise and with talent we will have knocking off some big names could set Westerns recruiting up for a while.

Go Tops !

You may think I'm nuts BUT personally I would like to play @ Peay. Road wins count as 1.4 wins for RPI. And we will have as many fans there as they will in thier own gym. Combine that with the fact that they will have a very good chance at a 20 win season and this could be a great RPI game for us next year.

I'd settle for a true neutral game. Freedom Hall. Split the tickets 50-50. (Like they used to do with Indiana.) Then we have to be smart enough to try and control who gets our allotment... (all season ticket holders get tickets... and then only let faculty, staff, alumni, students, boosters etc. buy the rest of the tickets.) But that scenario is too... fair. It will never happen either.

#2 - An ACC, B10 or SEC team

I'd like to see us schedule a win. We have a tough schedule already for next year with Georgia and Nebraska at home, @SIU and the Great Alaskan Shootout. The trick is to schedule teams that we have a 90% chance of beating but will still win 20+ games (half of RPI is oppenents win%). Austin Peay is ideal. Most any BSC team would want us to play on the road for the first year of the deal and personally since Horn has been building to next year since he's been here I want next year to be... "perfect."

Austin Peay???? No way.

If I am thinking a realistic team that I'd want a series with, I'd think of:

Dayton
Xavier
Butler
Wichita State
Creighton
Vanderbilt (I'm loving them after today)

Any Missouri Valley team. We have a chance to beat them and they always help the old RPI. Stay away from SEC, Big 10, etc. We'll struggle to ever beat a team from one of those conferences and most of them will refuse to play in Diddle.

Most any of those would be good galojay although am I the only one that is concerned about overscheduling?

Butler/Dayton wouldn't be a bad trip. I would like it to be someplace within 4 hours of here.

You need to preface that by saying any Missouri Valley team EXCEPT Evansville. I hope we never play them... those black and white striped uniforms three of their players wear get on my nerves!

Unfortunately I have only been to Robber's arena for a Stone Temple Pilots concert. But I have heard the horror stories.

Amen galo. I don't care if we ever play Evansville again, home or away. I know it'd good for attendance, but attendance is not an issue for us. We need good, FAIR, wins to raise our RPI.

I've been to Robber's Arena for all our games with Felton and Horn. I was blessed to be at the ONE win we had there. I was also there for the game where we had 11 fouls called against us before Evansville got their first foul... and it was a bench foul.

I've been blessed to have completed the trifecta: Wins at MTSU, Evansville and Murray State. For some reason in modern era (Felton to present) we've struggled at those places.

So why the hate on Austin Peay, Galo? They have a good record this year, they will be better next year than they are this year... and there is no easier road trip. What's not to like?

Just don't like playing three OVC schools. We already have Murray State and Eastern Kentucky on the schedule.

Austin Peay might be good next year, but I'd rather get in a relationship with a team like I mentioned above with more consistent success.

??? It would be better than Kennesaw St. I like road games that are just an hour away and that help our rpi. I don't care what patch is on the jersey.

Kennesaw had other reasons. 1) It was close to UGA, we needed a game before we went up against UGA. 2) We have two players who are from GA, one that played just down the road, and then we have B.J. Fraizer who will be here next year, that played just down the road from Kennesaw as well.
