Alternative to RPI?
I was just reading The Bracket Board and I was reminded of a thought I had back in the summer. Ezekiel (isn't he the one that does this?) points out that rpi doesn't measure how good a team is... only how a team does against its schedule and how well that teams opponenets do against thier schedules.

I have thought that it would be nice to see a more objective ranking system (not based on polls) that does attempt to measure the quality of a team.

I propose this formula:

QUALITY SCORE = RPI x (REBOUNDS / OPPONENTS REBOUNDS) x (ASSIST TO TURNOVER RATIO) x (OPPONENTS TURNOVERS / OPPONENTS ASSISTS)

So in other words quality = rpi x rebounding x offense x defense.

Thoughts? Suggestions? 01-wingedeagle

The RPI is what is, and we might as well embrace it and learn how to win with it. The MVC has done a great job with this. The SBC needs to learn. It's not about scheduling the top teams in the country. It is about scheduling teams you can win against.

I am not a huge fan of the RPI either.
