Hey everyone!
I'm B4L, the new Mod of the
Distributed Computing board in the
Lounge.
Now the question of the moment is, why are you hearing from me? Well, I'm here to recruit YOU to share all those wasted cycles and put them to good use, say like finding a cure for cancer maybe?
Now, how can you help? Well by simply running a piece of software. Folding@NCAAbbs is a distributed computing project -- people from through out the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer makes the project closer to our goals.
Folding@Home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems thousands to millions of times more challenging than previously achieved. In other words, lots of computers banding together to solve REALLY complex problems.
What's in it for you you ask? A really cool purple star medal that let's everyone on NCAAbbs know you're helping find a cure for cancer, HIV, AIDS, etc. Plus, the satisfaction of knowing you're doing something good with your wasted computer cycles.
Interested yet? Then head on over to the
Folding@NCAAbbs Setup Guide to get started...as soon as you've folded your first unit, I'll personally pin the medal on your profile!!!
Thanks for your time!!!
