Your team's realistic expectations
Pretty self-explanatory. How do you think your team will fare this season? Realistically.
I'll start it off.
UL Cajuns
@ LSU Loss
@ Texas A&M Loss
vs. North Carolina A&T Win!
vs. Eastern Michigan Win!
@ Houston Loss
@ FAU Win!
vs. MT Win!
@ Troy Loss
vs. UNT Win!
at FIU win!
vs. ASU win!
vs. ULM win!
Obviously, I don't see us winning our first two games. LSU is loaded and well, A&M is A&M. NCA&T is a poor I-AA team and should be over by halftime. EMU will not be able to take the heat of south Louisiana on a Saturday evening and will break under the heat. Houston is a tough one. Their QB Kolb is an outstanding player, but one or two breaks go the Cajuns way and they can win one on the road. FAU on ESPN2 will be an easy win. MT is an interesting case..new coach, new everything really. Always a good game when the Cajuns and Raiders hook up. Troy looks like they have a great team this year and its tough to win @ Troy. Cajuns might stumble in this one. FIU, easy win. ASU, revenge is so very very sweet! ULM BLOWOUT!
Cajuns go 8-4 overall, 6-1 in conference and represent the SBC in the New Orleans Bowl.

Aug 31 @Florida International --- WIN
Sep 9 @Maryland --- loss
Sep 14 Tennessee Tech --- WIN
Sep 23 @Oklahoma --- loss
Sep 30 @North Texas --- WIN
Oct 6 Louisville Nashville, TN (LP Field) --- loss
Oct 21 @Louisiana-Monroe --- WIN
Oct 28 @Louisiana-Lafayette --- loss
Nov 4 Florida Atlantic --- WIN
Nov 11 @Arkansas State --- WIN
Nov 18 @South Carolina --- loss
Nov 25 Troy --- WIN
Putting it down on the screen, it says 7-5 (6-1), but my mind says 5-7 (4-3).
It just depends on how the new coaching staff is able to get these players to respond and if MT can avoid injuries to key personnel. I think most fans would love a 6-6 record after the last four years of boneheaded coaching under mccollum. Whatever the final number of wins, I am convinced it will be three more wins than we would have had under mccollum - that's the level of underachievement by the Raiders each of the last four seasons.

So is N. Texas young, rebuilding what? They were strong for several years and then what happened? Sorry, I haven't kept up with Sunbelt football. Hopefully soon I will have a lot more reason to.

It was a combination of things that led to UNT's hard fall. They had a rough offseason in 2005, that led to them starting a very young QB. Also, you'll notice that a lot of coaches and those in the media all agree that the SBC is very competitive top to bottom. Each team is capable of beating the other, which should make for a very interested season. UNT dominated for 4 years, but everyone caught up to them and some have even passed them. But with Darrell Dickey as their coach, they will always be a contender.

Any coach in any conference in any sport would say that. But I do believe that the SBC is improving.
